Many of those old cartoons were Majorly NOT PC  :-X I'm just amazed at KT's work; he does excellent work, very much the style I like. And the fact that he pumps them out so quickly is also amazing. It's not like he sits around with nothing else to do; he has a lot of knives in the fire. He's a very interesting guy to talk to. If he lived closer, we'd spend some time together.

Howdy Santee,

Very nice! A nifty design for a useful item. Thanks for sharing this with us.

OK here is my first attempt at making a gunbelt, knife sheath and holsters.  I recently got married so I left lots of room for growth on the belt for that gooood "Southern Cookin"!!!  Need was the reason I attempted it.  I started  shooting NCOWS and couldn't use my dropped holster belt and open trigger guard holsters. 8)

Johnny Thundergun,

Seems a durn fine rig to me pard, great work !

I would like to question the high ridin sheath though.  Is that just a personal preference ?  I don't reckon I've ever seen on quite like that before.

Nice rig Pard,  Josh

Johnny Thundergun

Thank you Josh!  The reasoning behind the sheath is in the behind...  It is in the middle of my back and when I sat down I would sit on the knife.  The belt loop has enough slack to swivel to either side slightly, in order to use right handed or left handed.  HAHA and I don't have to think before I sit!!!

Johnny,

I did kinda figure that was it but sometime my thinker ain't always spot on so I though I'd ask the feller that knew the answer.

I do a'preciate the reply pard.

Welcome to the Leather Shop, I think you did very well for a first attempt at making gun leather, this stuff is addicting, the more you do , the you want to do, is your knife sheath attached or do you wear it that high, Johnny you did good pard, and we'll be looking forward to seeing more from you. We have a great bunch of pards hear that go out of there way to help and answer question, so don't be a stranger. Thanks for the look see. ::) :o 8)   I just caught your last post before I posted, LOL, I guess I was wondering as was Josh, that's a good answer. ;D

JT nice to see another pard doing leather . It is as TW said, very addicting but fun Great job for just starting. You can learn a lot by asking ?s. There are a lot of good leather makers on this site. Luck and keep posting. KT

Well, while I've been out of circulation a bit, I see there have been many cows dying a glorious death and going on to be immortalized with some of the more amazing pieces of gunleather I have seen in some time.

Hope to have a piece or two to add up here in the near future. Been busy with paintings, work and what not. We had an art director quit for Petersen's Hunting, and I stepped in for an issue, and now we're finishing up a Gun & Ammo that's hanging out while the AD takes some personal time.

He and his family could use your prayers, pards. More on that over on the Bunkhouse.

Howdy JT,

That's quite a nice looking Rig especially for your first one! It looks like you have put a lot thought into the design. That one of the great things about making one's own gear... you can incorporate your own idea's and get exactly what you want. Welcome to the Forum and we look forward to seeing your future projects.

Howdy JT, welcome to the Forum and congrats on the recent wedding. I do hope it works out well. I'm still tryin to get the hang of this married thing. It's only been 33 years, & I don't have it figured out yet!

That's a great job for your first rig, just jumpin in with both feet! Doing the belt, holsters, sheath & shell loops right off the bat. I'm more convinced than ever that everyone has more natural talent than I EVER hope to have.

Thanks for sharing your work. JD

WOW!!  Thank y'all for the compliments.  I am a transplanted Northerner so I hope y'all came out right!   The part about getting the hang of this marriage bit...  HAHA  I am blessed with a sweet Texas Belle.  She is the one with the work cut out for her!
I learned following my first NCOWS match using it, that dual shotgun shell loops were a no-no and changed that to single loops and made some minor changes to the buckel system.  It is a fun learning process. I also have several projects going in different dirrections.  Lets see..  Building a computer for the wife for Christmas, makeing a model railroad for the Grandson, set up a reloading system for my blackpowder shotgun shells and somewhere in there fix my Jeep to get to the next shoot.  HMMM prioritiies..  I thought I was retired!!!! 8)
