Howdy JD,

That's a real good looking Holster! A very neat and professional job! You can be very proud of your work. Many thanks for sharing this with us.
You need to learn to like all the little everday things like a sip of good whiskey, a soft bed, a glass of buttermilk,  and a feisty old gentleman like myself

JD that is one fine rig.  The US concho is a nice touch compared to a stamped holster.

JD, friction folders were pretty common in that era.I use to make them in the old style then started modernizing them a bit, but I miss the older styles.Dave

MY first attempt !!  One holster is a straight hang crossdraw; the other is straight hang strongside. The belt has alternating Buffalo skull, Crossed Rifles & Snake stamp; the border is barbed wire !! The other belt is also straight crossdraw & straight Strong; the belt itself is beveled on either side of the dark center strip so that the strip appears to stand out from the belt but really does not !!

WOW JD, you couldnt have gotten very much of that from me pard as I never do anything that looks anywhere near that good.  I just do not think that little holster coud be done any finer than you did it, congratulations.    Robby

Dave those folders and sheaths take me back to my buckskinnin' days, they look great.
DD, you are well and truly bit my friend.  That is a great job for a first try. It won't be long until you are laying awake at night trying to decide what your next project is going to be ;)
JD, you ol dog that rig finished out great. Are you the same guy who started doing leatherwork just a short time ago ??? ;) ;D

Howdy, pards. I see some very good work happened while I was gone. Slick, Kid, those are very nice rigs. I like them both.

JD, that holster is fine. The basketweave is good. Nice work.

Those old time folders and sheaths are really good looking items, DC. Nice work and nice idea to resurrect the old designs.

Very nice work, DD. Good to see another pard popping in with some nice stuff. Thanks for the pics and welcome to the forum.

OK, I have to go catch up on the other threads here. Good work, all of you.

Thanks M. Will,,have a nice trip? Glad yer back.

Thanks JD for the pik of yer holster, mighty fine craftmanship there. It's very similar to the one I made for a Friend in N.Dak , he has a Glock 9mm and sure likes it. I got the measurements off of his gun and it turned out okay,

I will get one of those awls and continue using my smalll drill and bit for my stitching.I like the holes a bit big as it is kinder to my needles. No problem with the stitches , nice and tight.

Worked all day on my new leather and gun shop, Y'all got me excited and had to get things set up.
Thingss are looking good so far.

Thanks Pards

Howdy Pards,

There's no shoes fer this one yet but I wanted to put'er here and ask yall's advice about it.  I finished this one up last night and I'm havin a bit of trouble tryin to decide what type of sheath to make fer her.  Figured who better to ask than the good folks right here in The Leather Shop.  I was thinkin about tryin out the mexican loop style but just not sure if thats gonna be the right fit.  If yall wanna read a bit more about this knife you can check out this thread

I sure do appreciate yall's help in figurin out the best way to go with this sheath

Thanks alot Pards,   Josh  ;D

Thanks. It's good to be back, even though it was a fine jaunt.

Josh, the double rows of pins really looks good. That knife has a time-worn quality to it. I'd be tempted to do do rawhide and buckskin with fringe. Possibly a twisted leather belt loop on it.

Howdy Dave,
Wow! Those are some beautiful Knives and Sheath's you are turning out. Great designs coupled with excellent workmanship! Many thanks for sharing your talents with us.

Howdy Dutch,
Great job especially for your first project. There is a lot of satisfaction out of making one's own leather. We look forward to seeing your future work.

Howdy Josh,
Beautiful Knife! It looks like a fine museum piece, That's a great design along with some excellent workmanship. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Howdy Montana Slick,
Sorry I missed the Rig you made for your sidekick in Calgary. It looks great and I'll bet your friend was was well pleased with it.
I sure do look forward to seeing what you make for yourself this winter.

Robby, thanks for the vote of confidence; it means a lot to me!

DD, that's a fine first build for your holsters and belts. Lacing is not something I've tried yet, but I do plan to get to it one of these days.  As you've probably discovered, this can be addictive! After you build one, you want to improve on your work, so you begin planning the next one.

Josh that is a really fine looking knife! You guys that build knives impress the heck out of me. I've got a fine looking knife that Ned Buckshot made for me, but I've not gotten around to making a sheath for it yet; too many projects, not enough free time.

I wonder what a twisted belt loop looks like? It sounds interesting. That is definitely an ole time looking knife, and a sheath like Marshall mentioned would really compliment it.

Kid Terico

Josh, thats a fine looking  knife. It sure looks aged. There so many things u could do on a sheaf, but I like Marshals idea. Think it would look good. KT

Marshal Will Wingam

JD, here's what a twisted belt loop looks like. It looks like it wouldn't work too well, but it hangs straight. This is on a knife that was made for me by a knife maker in Finland. It was a gift, I had nothing to do with making it. It's a really fine knife. Here's also a picture of the whole thing.
