More good work, X-Pen. That border design is really good. The spacing is even and out far enough so the buckle holes don't cut into it at all. I like the clip corner tip on the billet, too. I know you welcome criticism but it's hard to criticize good work. I mean, OK, one of those seed spots was off .003 to the left. That's what gives it the truly hand-made look. You may want to put a sample of that on the border thread for future reference. I really like the look. Nice hat band, too. The double stitch line down it makes it interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Alright, criticism time. Jeez you is always so doggone cheerful!!!

But really, great work there Horsepen! I like it alot. I like the subtleness of the hat band. Really elegant without being over the top.

Dedgummit fellas!!! I surely didn't think ya was gonna be that stinkin' tuff on me or I wouldn't have invited the critiques.

Thanks for the kind words though. I guess the bottom line is we are all our own harshest critics. There are some things I will do differently on my next belt. One thing is I'll move that seeder over another .003"!!!

That's for sure. I have a holster I just stamped and it's getting tossed. My wife can't see anything wrong with it and in my opinion, there are 3 or 4 glaring flaws in it.

Maybe I'll finish it and give it to the kid next door for his capgun.

I dont think the dark is thread. I think it is just overstitched for decoration. Hard to tell tho. DM

I understand that, It still doesn't look good using white (real) stitches with the dark (phony) stitches.

Point well taken, WC. That's the kind a stuff I am lookin' for. Sometimes a feller can't see that stuff in his own work.
Do ya have any suggestions on how to color beeswaxed linen thread once it is on a piece? Spit and dirt? I dunno! $:-\$

Dalton yer right. It is overstitch wheel in grooves. I do that quite a bit. Not always but quite a bit.

Funny you mention cap guns, Marshal. I had some 8-9 oz grade A scrap lying around; you know, the kind of stuff that's too small to make a full-size lined belt or holster with, but too big to give to the boy scouts for their merit badges; and I was really slow, and the Makers' Mark bourbon was flowing pretty freely, so I made a cap gun rig for my sisters grandson. I call it the "Buckaroo Buscadero". Here's some pics. Remember, I admitted the cow perch was flowing......

Thanks for the comments guys! I had to order a buckle for it so it isn't done yet. It was fun! Brought back some memories. especially the smell of the caps. Had to try them out. Quality control you know.

Speaking of comments, Horsepen, I like the white thread on your belt. I reckon that leathersmithing is an art, and one of the fundamentals of art, in my opinion, is contrast. And thats what you've got with the stitching on that belt. You always do great work.

Like I said, Marshal W., I may have been a little woozy from drink, so the 3 or 4 little things your wife didn't see on yours tranferred to mine with a bunch thrown in. But I'll tell you this, my seeder wasn't .003 off. Of the two of them I saw while I was using them, one of them was right on. LOL

OK, this might not be the right topic to put this under but here goes. I have been working on a carving pattern and would like to have some of that critique stuff you guys are always talking about.
Design elements, shading, and tool work could be left to anyones imagination.
Would it work

Or do I need to go back to the drawing board.

Oh, if you by some strange chance like it feel free to use it and modify it any old how, just show it to me when you are done.

Gunbutcher, you should change your name to patternmaker! I like that. You need to do the wraparound part to the back although that shouldnt be too tough to hammer out on the fly. I like the flowing lines around the entire holster. Looks very elegant.
That is something I have a hard time doing. I cant draw patterns for nothing. Very nice. DM
