Nice. The picture shows on my screen as an oxblood color. I like it a lot. Good work.

That should give you a good sense of accomplishment. Now you're hooked.  :D  Your cut lines look even and smooth. Good job. Be sure to post any more you do.

Nice work, Dalton. Everything looked even and clean. I particularly liked the period design on the Star holsters. Did you do that with a swivel knife?

Thanks for sharing with us. Great pics.

Yes, that was swivel knife work. I had to redegn/resize the Will Ghormley pattern to fit on the Starrs due to size.

I thought so. It looks good. I've been thinking about doing one that way one of these days.

I built the rear portion by the triggerguard too long, it almost hit the grips! Had to trim after they were stitched, so they are kinda prototype. They draw nice tho. Gonna give em a workout this sunday. DM

They look fine. When I make a new pattern, I like to make one test holster with scrap leather from the belly part of a hide. That way I can adjust the pattern if needed (quite often) and I also end up with a holster I can use for some purpose or give to someone who really needs one. I've been using a pair of holsters for about two years that were test holsters because I didn't really like them too much but didn't know exactly what I wanted to make. My recent one I posted will be the pattern I'll use (with a couple changes) and the other ones will get stashed away.

Attached are two I've just finished.

The Black holster is for a friend's Schofield with a 3-1/2" barrel. It's styled after the Shane holster as shown in Guns of the West #52 and has a slight angle for a cross draw.

The Tan holster is for my 1872 Army Open Top.
You need to learn to like all the little everday things like a sip of good whiskey, a soft bed, a glass of buttermilk,  and a feisty old gentleman like myself

Marshal Will Wingam

Nice holsters, pard. Those little schofields sure don't use much leather compared to the open top, do they? Thanks for posting the pics. I haven't seen a three-loop holster for an open top before. It looks good, the slenderness really works.

Very tastefully done. I like the contrasting colors. The light lace really adds a good accent. Nice work.
