I seem to get lots of comments on my Two Tone rigs.

They are fun to make and they are very eye catching and fun to wear.

EET, helps to get a paycheck in order to get those T-bones eh.

EE Taft

Well, as I said hiccup...... (boy that was a good T bone) as I've said before, the first thing to hit the leather after tooling is the dye, at which point I do the delicate stuff first. QTIPS WORK GREAT!!!! use a Q tip in the color of dye that you want and apply to the area that you want colored.

Ya might want to meditate or something first. Make sure your steady and don't get the color on anything it ain't 'spose to be on.

That's it! not hard, just take your time and when you are done seal 'er up with your choice of finish. (note, if you think it looks good before you finish it, It will look GREAT after it's finished.

I have also used small art brushes to do this but really, the Qtips work better and hold enough dye to work with.

Before you apply, make sure you don't have too much dye in the Qtip. use a scrap and roll the Qtip on it to take off the extra dye. Then use just like a pen on the leather.

I hope this don't sound too dumb to try, but it works great for me.

It's been a while since I've posted anything. I recently took a holster class at our local Tandy put on by Bobby Rose of Cattail Creek Leather and Saddlery. I know Bobby checks in here from time to time, though I don't recall seeing him post here.

He did an excellent job putting on a basic holster making class. I brought two of my friends from church, and they both learned a lot. I've not made a Slim Jim before, and I have to say it's not my favorite style of holster, but I'm glad I got a chance to make one, or two

Because of all of you guys, I have a pretty good grip on the basics, and had enough time to start two holsters. I decided I wanted to put spots on one, so I had to line it. Because we were doing things as a group, I didn't have time to stamp the holsters as much as I would normally have so I used an E-294 stamp to cover the front. I put the spots on at home and finished up both holsters.

I'm still having an issue with a clean look on the outside of the main seam stitch line, but I'm working on it. Because of Bobby's class I've finally made the switch to two needle one thread sewing.

JD, I gotta say, those are nice.  Simple yet very very elegant.

I love seein people make there way in this hobby. It shows with every project that they do, the increase in knowlege and moving forward. It is impressive to see.

I think we all remember our very first leather projects. Look back at them, and then look at your latest and you'll see a time line of success that you created. No one can take credit for it but you.

Great work Pard. Keep 'em comin'
