I don't know what it is about butt covers. I've done alot of covers that have the cap on the end that cover the butt plate, but for some reason I don't like to cover the butt plate up on mine.

I like to leave my butt (plate) hangin' out. ;D

I've just always liked the looks of a steal butt plate, but also like the looks and protection of the wrap.

Those are some nice looking butt wraps fellers. I like these busy days too, lots of goodies to look at.

Here is the completed Rig I've been practicing for. The RH Holster will hold my USFA .45 SAA 5-1/2" barrel. The LH Holster will hold my GWII .45 SAA 5-1/2" barrel. The Cross Draw Holster will hold my RM Transition .44 Colt. I made these Holsters long enough so they will accommodate my .38 Special SAA's with 7-1/2" barrels.

The RH and LH Holsters have a 15 degree barrel forward cant. This compensates for the slant the Holsters take due to my lack of six pack abs.

It is finished as follows: 11 hours in the Walnut dye, 1 coat of Lexol, 3 coats of Neets and 2 coats of Skidmores.

The workmanship is not perfect by any means but that probably adds to the "Hand Made Old Look". This was the look I was trying to get. I tried it on on with my guns and it feels good. It should work just fine for my new style (RH/LH strong side) of shooting.

Many thanks to Ten Wolves for all of his help and suggestions especially with the "Money Belt" style of Belt.

Johnny, you really really got it right, this rig looks like it did walk out of Packing Iron, your design, tooling and color make it look like it has been worn in many a skirmish, and lived to tell about it, it's hard to get this look out of a bottle, the natural walnut dye really shines through here, and the natural finish of oil and Skidmores put the finishing touch on this rig, making it versatile so you can also use this rig with your other guns, is just icing on cake, when you have 5 1/2" guns along with 7 1/2" guns, making your holsters for the long tube makes your holsters work for both, and for me I like the longer length in a holster, it allows you more carving / tooling room, and just plain looks good IMHO. Thanks for the kind words Johnny, I was happy to help, you did a great job, this is a work well done for sure. ::) :o 8)

Joe, that canteen is a ( pardon the pun) cool idea and you made it look real good. Nice work.

Johnny, that is one mighty fine looking rig my friend. Beautiful color and great carving with just enough bling. That one is a winner Pard

Johnny, The rig is beautifull, great job.  Like the placement of the conchos.

EET, The bottle holder is first class, great tooling.

Just did a 1911 clip holder to get the feel for it.  Will make a double to go with the holster I just made.  This one I tried to lace like the holster, but it kept breaking about a third of the way around.  So I ended up sewing it.  Oh well....

Wow Johnny, you nailed that olde timey look perfectly. I agree with the other commentators in liking the longer look. I am curious though about using Lexol and Skidmores; I guess I thought they were essential for the same thing. No matter what the rig looks great

Bisquit Joe, that is a good looking canteen holder, and a great idea..

AC, you just keep on don't you! The mag holder looks great. What are you doing to keep that dude on the belt? How about the weight of the front piece of leather? I'm inspired.

Thanks for sharing your work, JD
