TW, it is 1/8 " leather roughout on both sides about 1/16 ' thick. Yes it is double loop stich.

AC

AC, I really like the look of the double loop lace method, and use it all the time, I think it just adds more beauty to your piece, I've never used the rough out lace, but will give that a try in the future.

  EE Taft, nice butt cover.

You pards are posting some very nice work, keep up the great work .

Here's a slim jim I started working on last night.

Now, I'm not the best at carving, but I kinda got a wild hair and just went goofy.

Let me know what y'all think. Good and bad.

I'll try and post a pic. of it when I get it done too.

EET, I looked it over real close and looks like ya got all of the bases covered.
The seeds all the way across the top and the horizontal line on the left shows a steady hand.
I use a ruler myself, too shakey fer straight lines, but then thats old age fer ya. ;D

Nice pattern and ya dunn great EET.

RH cross draw? or, are you left handed like me? ::)

MS

EE Taft

Well Sir, This one here is gonna be a pair when I get around to doin' the other one.

This is a pattern for a Hickok style holster with the trigger flange removed to increase draw time.

They can be worn in a strong side (some call it crotch rocket) set up or reverse (calvary twist) draw,
or double cross draw. What ever one's pleasure.

These won't be mine personally, I'm just making them to have around in case someone else has a need for them.

Oh, and uh, I'm a righty. For some reason I just keep doin' the left one first here lately. ;D

~EE Taft~ Who shoots 'em gunfighter style ;D not very good but he does! ;)

Whal EET, yer doing it the Cowboyway, Code of the West :)

I taped up the back of the holster with that post office packaging roll of tape. Nice and thin light weight and comes off easily..Lernt that in class last Saturday.

Piks? Were gonna flood this thread with em as soon as we swivel along. ;D

Sir? ::)

Slick, you're getting the feel of tooling. Your stuff is looking nice.

AC, that 1911 holster came out really good. The tooling is clean and the lacing adds to it. Nice work.

EE, that handful is an eyeful. Very nice work on all of them.

JD, that mag holder came out fine. Your stitching is good and it'll work just fine. I'm looking forward to the next version you make.

Dave, Dalton, WC, Wiley, those are some very nice holsters. Good designs, great work carrying them out. Some beautiful work, there. Look out, though, JD is going to be a force to reckon with on the next one.

Nice Butt Cover, EE. That dark brown will be easy to touch up if you happen to drag it across one of your pistol hammers (I've done that a time or two). Be sure to post a pic if you make any changes. The tooling is looking good on that holster. It'll be a beautiful one when it's done.

I suppose we should have another pic of my mag holder so we have all the designs in one place. I love all the variety you pards have been posting. Very nice stuff.

EE Taft

Yup, that's the main reason I put butt wraps on my long guns, that and for puttin' 'em in the cart. I hate to try to slide 'em down in the cart and draggin' 'em along the edges. Makes a nice little scratch.

I like my butt covers to go up high enough to protect the stocks when holding them at port arms, too.

Nice but cover Will, EE Taft yours is spiffy too, here's one I did over a year ago for my Sharps, I also added about 1 1/2" of condensed rubber foam, to bring the length of pull to 15 1/2" I have long arms, and most rifle stocks are way too short, for me this is an easy way to build them up.

Gun Butcher

EE, that one is gonna look good Pard. Be looking forward to the rest of the story ;) ;D

Marshal, yours and TW's butt covers where the inspiration for mine. I really like the longer style and I used some closed cell to lengthen and cushion. Works out great.

Man, you pards are knocking out some nice stuff.Dave :)

Wiley Desperado

EE, TW, Marshal, those butt covers are great.

Marshal, that 1911 holster and mag pouch are  just to good.

Wiley  ;D

Marshal Will Wingam

Thanks pards.

TW, I remember that cover. It really looks good and with the closed cell foam, it should be a very comfortable one to use. I always put a thin strip of foam in mine, but only enough to fill the butt piece out flat between the stitches. I hadn't considered padding it with a little extra. That's a good idea.

Nice leather on here today, this art is the best thing going.

I've decided not to make a butt cover fer my Stoeger. Gonna brand a stagecoach on it, saw one here on the thread and hope he dunt mind if I use his idea.

Gonna have a shock absorber on it tho as my shoulder sure gets bruised.

Thanks M Will, started tooling a pattern from Will G. That new swivel blade made all the difference in the world.

Slick, I knew there was something goofy about you, and you let the cat out of the bag. SXS :o
