JD nice job, you are doing a nice job on the roses. KT

JD, that is beautiful. You have a good feel for those roses. They look great.

JD, Just look at yourself. That carving looks pretty durn good to me and I like the way you did your stamp placement on the rest of the strap. Great job,now just keep it up.

Howdy JD,

Gun Butcher expressed my sentiment's exactly. Beautiful job on your Guitar strap! Nifty design and great carving of the roses.

JD, please don't be so hard on yourself. We all are our own worst critics. I don't think I've ever made a single thing in leather that I was completely satisfied with. I always seem to find something that could have been done better in the design or workmanship of the item. Now I don't think there is anything wrong with being critical of one's own work as long as we don't take things too seriously and stop having fun. The encouragement I receive from this forum is one of the big things that keeps me enthused about this great hobby.

Very nice JD, it should look even better when finished, your friend will be happy I'm sure, nothing nicer than a hand made guitar strap.

Howdy JD
Hold your head up high. You did a great job.
If I get a chance I will do a short video on how I do the rose leaves. I think you will like it and will be easier to do in the future.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys. Johnny I'm sure you are correct, I doubt I will ever do something in leather that I am entirely satisfied with.

WC I would love to see a video of how you carve those dudes.

I know I need improvement in all areas of carving, but the biggest challenge for me with the roses is the pear shading. It's not something I've done much of, so that's the main thing I'm not happy with. I need to so some research on how to use those babies better.

JD pard, I echo what the others have said, your work is looking fine.I look at my mentors work and say to myself I will never get that good, but he reminds me he has been at for almost 60 years, and then he says practice, practice and more practice.

Well finished another sheath for my last bowie. This style was taught to me my mentor Sandy, where the main sheath body is notched for the collar, slimming it up a bit. I also made the concho arrowhead out of Ivory. The quilt pattern tooling was inspired by my friend Paul Long.Dave  ;D

Kid Terico

Dave as usual beautiful work. Keep it up. Why dont u put up a pict of the knive u just finished for me. Its a  dandy. Every one should see it. Thanks KT

Dave Cole

Thanks and no problem Kid.This one is for KT's grand daughter, and he is doing the sheath.Made from 1095 steel ,with Nickel silver bolsters and pins.Kid sent me the Redwood burl.Dave  ;D

Those look great Dave. It makes me want to have KT adopt me so I can get a knife too ;D.

Seriously the skill level it takes to make something like that absolutely amazes me. I enjoy looking at the pictures, so thanks for taking time to post them, JD

Wiley Desperado

AC, nice job on that holster everything about it is good.

Dave, you really know how to design a knife sheath and a knife.  Beautiful work as always.

KT, being an old Marine myself I assure you she will absolutely be over the top happy when she opens the package.  She will show that knife and sheath off to every other Marine she knows and some she don't know.  OUTSTANDING!!

Johnny, That shoulder holster will do the job.

JD, Your leather work is good.  Looking forward to seeing that guitar strap when it is all finished.

Dave, I really like that bowie and sheath. Good honest lines and very clean workmanship. The one you made for Kid's granddaughter is absolutly Bodacious. She is going to flip when she gets that. Kid, You did real good when you got dave to turn on the talent for that one. WOW :o

And now for me. This is whats been keeping me busy for the past few days.
Done for a Pard from the forum and hopefully my design will make him happy.
