Dr. Bob

JD,

They both look good to me.  Glad that you learned a bunch on the brown one.  The black one is smooth!! :o

JD, I really like Spotty a lot.  It has a sort of rustic look.  The black holster is really good, but just doesn't have the personality of Spotty.

JD, if anyone had asked me I would have said that 1911 would never fit in that black holster :-[  And I agree with bodie 'Ol spotty' definitely has personality and I like the look. The black one appeals to me because it has good clean lines and its a good honest no frills holster.

Cowboy, as always your carving is first rate. That dye job you did does nothing but compliment it. Great work.

Usually I throw the scraps away but I thought I would see how it would work on a rig. 2 1/4 " belt. Flat piece of leather for skirt with a 2 " strap sewed on back. Holster is front half of a holster only sewed to skirt to completethe holster. Small pieces only. Very light holster with only half the leather used. .KT

Cowboy 316,that's damn nice, really like the color.Keep it up man your makin a nitch fer yourself,it's not over done.I may have to get a 911 now :-[

Bunch a ole scudders!

Gun Butcher

Kid, you continue to amaze me. You can do more with a few scraps than I could with a whole cow. That is a VERY nice rig.  And it flat works ;D ;D

JD, both of those holsters are well done.  Personally, I agree with a few others, I really like the brown one it has character.  Nice leatherwork Preacher.

316, I have been an admirer of leather caving ever since I was a kid on the Texas/Mexico border where there are some mighty good leather carvers.  You my friend have natural talent when it comes to carving leather.  That is a beauty of a holster.

KT,  Absolute art! You definitly have a creative side.

Cowboy 316, great job on that holster. The carving looks good, and the backgrounding really looks smooth.

Terry, you continue to amaze me with your skills, including real imaginative designs. I think that is a great looking set up.

Gun Butcher, I understand what you mean about "Blackie" being able to hold a 1911, but I'm working to match an existing holster. If you've seen one of the Evil Roy Wild Bunch holsters, they're pretty darn small, and that's what my friend is looking for.

Howdy KT,
WOW! Another beautiful work of art from your busy workshop. The variety of designs you produce is incredible. Would it be possible to get a picture of the back of the Holster? I'd really like to see how you did the belt loop. Many thanks for sharing this with us.

KT, thanks for that back angle picture. I've seen that done in person, but I don't recall seeing it on this forum in the last 15 months I've been around here.

Howdy KT,

Howdy Yall !

Here's my latest attempt at leather bendin.  Thought I'd throw it up here and get some critique from the talented Pards here in the leather forum.

-This'n is 8-9 oz veg-tanned leather lined with 3-4 oz veg-tan.
-Dyed with Eco-Flo Antique gel and sealed with Satin Sheen inside and out.
-Hand forged 1095 blacksmith style boot clip riveted with copper washers and a mild steel pin. Also heat treated and spring tempered the clip for flexability and durability so she'll maintain good tension without deforming or breaking.
-Stitched up with Black waxed thread.

The clip was Shotgun Steves request to keep with period correct materials and I really feel it gives that little extra sumpthin to this one here.

There are more pics in The Cutting Edge if yall wanna look.

Don't be bashfull now Pard's let me know what yall think,  - Josh ;D

Josh, I gotta say that that knife is darn good looking. I really like the look of your maker mark too. Very professional, easy to read, and looks vintage to boot.
The sheath looks just right with that twisted iron clip!
