I've been out of state for a few days. I see a few new holsters to look at. Good work again. I like the black money belt, Rev.

:D :D :D

I think that seagull came by here when I did it the first time, too. ;D

Just finished and tried out my new rig. Fell in love with the money belt on the cover of Packing Iron. Tried rawhide lacing , went with wide billets to keep the leather from pulling and stretching. Can't believe how comfortable the belt is. Added some Turquoise rivits for flair? Holsters are 12-14oz leather, should last forever. Wanted 1880's-90's. RR

Looks good, Ralph. I agree with you on the lacing. Nice touch with the turquoise spots, too. Thanks for the pics.

Ralf, very nice looking belt and holsters.  ;D  I really like the money belt style too, a lot more comfortable than regular belt.  I also find the money belt stays in place better.

Nice decrative touches on the belt.

That's a clean holster, Bob. What is the stamp you used on the border? Looks good.

Marshall
I used a flower, mulefoot and a small seeder for the border tools.

Thanks, Bob. Sometimes the simple tools make the nicest borders.

Nice holster, too. The beadwork looks good. I wouldn't have thought of putting something like that on the loop.

Now, that gives me an idea, Rev.  Thanks.

BTW, that rig looks great.

Hey Fellows
The beads are a inventory item at Tandy.  Nothing of my own manufacture.  They are designed to go on the toe of their moccoassin kits. These were probably made by an 8 year old in China come to think of it.  My kids think they have it hard?

Okay, after about a month of finishing my part, I finally get to post pix of my first two gunbelts and holsters. Hate to put 'em up here because you guys are so damned talented, I feel like a 10-year-old kid on a stick horse talking to the champion bronc riders at the Fourth of July rodeo  :-[

The three pics of the big wide one show Absinthe Annie Duke's (my better half) new 1890s "bronc belt" gunbelt. I made the belt and holsters, died them, put them together, and punched about a zillion holes because she wanted the Mexican braid ALL THE WAY AROUND this belt! It took her right at a month of fitting in five minutes at a time of braiding. But it came out beautiful. She had intended to do some stamping on the back, but the leather would NOT take it (had a whole side, but it wasn't tooling leather--waya too hard????). So now we're looking for a 3- or 4-inch silver fairy for the back (absinthe was known as the Green Fairy, and she's planning on wearing a lot of green, too). We tie the holsters on with thongs so that she can take them off and wear the belt by itself. Had trouble with figuring out spacing on buckles, conchos, etc.

The other is my 4-inch plain gunbelt and crossdraw holster (first one ever!). Had no thread, sinew, or lacing when I made it, so I just riveted the whole darn holster (I know, I was in too big of a hurry to see if it actually worked). Need to cut an inch or so off the straps so all four diamond conchos show on the side by the holster. Since then, we've made two holsters and belts for our boys (Deadeye Didley and Waddie Bearp).

Dr Wright,

Looking at the pictures I do not think that you are rideing a stick horse, I think that you are up there with the rest of the riders.  Nice work on those holsters and belts.

LOL, I try to avoid lacing for just this reason. It sure adds a fullness to the edges you wouldn't otherwise have, though.

Both rigs look good. The double buckles work nicely on wide belts. I've made holsters with rivets when it's called for. That is a look of its own. Be sure to post photos when you make more stuff. We all get ideas from each other here. Thanks for the photos.

Nice work, Buffalo. I really like the black on the saddles. It makes a nice contrast for a striking finished piece.
