Howdy, Wiley. Welcome to the forum. That's some nice leather. Good design, well executed. I like the dark brown, it gives them character. Thanks for the pics. Looking forward to seeing more of your posts.

Thanks Wiley, 'll have to stop by my local tandy store and see if he has any of the old dyes left. I liked them better than the new ones I have tried, course it could be that I haven't worked out just exactly how to use them for best effect.

I've had the best luck at long established shoe repair shops. I recently scored a large bottle of old Fiebings russet that way. Just ask if they have any of the old stock lying around that isn't moving. You'll pay full retail but the dye will be much better.

Here's a couple of recent projects:

1) A pair of spur straps for a customer; and
2) Another holster variation for a S&W No. 3 breaktop.

 Howdy Dave  :D

Beautiful work Dave, I've always admired your stamping or tooling, you have a really nice way of putting things together, and when I'm doing my own tooling I always keep your style in mind, it's very classy, and something you wouldn't get tired of, your dyeing and finish are also top notch. Thanks for sharing, and just in case we don't talk in the near future, Merry CHRISTMAS and a Happy New Year. :D ;D

Fine work, Dave. I like the coins on the straps. They really add to the look. The stitching on the holster looks great. I don't think of using stitching for decoration because...well, uh... oh, I don't have a machine. Yeah, that's it. Now I can justify getting one. ;D

Thanks for sharing.

Howdy Dave,

Ten Wolves, Outrider and Marshal Will hit the nail on the head with their comments. You did a beautiful job on the Holster and Spur straps. Many thanks for sharing your talents with us.

Thanks, fellas. Much obliged. Haven't posted much recently...been runnin' kinda ragged.

10 Wolves: Merry Christmas yourself there, pard. And to all the rest of the board.

Marshal Will: FWIW, that's my first time decorating with stitching and it's done by hand as I don't have a machine, either. So now you have even less of an excuse... ;) Stitched it first time with a light-colored contrasting thread but thought it looked kinda gaudy so I pulled it all out (a real PITA) and restitched with a black thread on the cordovan/brown blend holster. I like it better I think.

Looks reall good Dave!!! I like the dark stitching on that holster. I have to echo 10Wolves sentiments on your border work. They are always top notch, and beautiful.

The first thought that came to mind when I looked at your holster and spur straps was "very classy" what a really nice balance between decorative and subdued very nicely done, The decorative hand stiching is outstanding, thanks for sharing.

I'll agree with all that has been said, Dave. Superb job on the stamping!

Well, I'll have to think about that, then. You're right about the dark thread looking nice with the dark color. Thanks.
