Looks Good, Rev. What did you use for the antique finish?

Reverend Bob

Tandy's Antique Stain (Dark Brown) with a final finish of Neat Lac (Spray)

Thanks

Reverend Bob

Marshal Will Wingam

They used to have about a dozen colors of antique stains. Last time I looked, they only had a couple. The most commonly used ones, I guess.

Finally finished the belt for my new holsters. Still haven't de-glazed the holsters, won't make that mistake again! Wanted to try a set unlined, but don't like the light weight. About ready to use my good leather and make a good set, now with a little practise under my belt. RR.

Looking forward to your new set, RR. This set is good so it'll be nice to see how you change them for the next. ;)

Here is a photo of my lined holster for my Army 44, and the sheath for my Searles Bowie.
I did the leather work. The Searles Bowie blade is from Dixie Gun Works as are the raw castings for the guard, pommel, etc.  The wood is African Blackwood.

Here's a couple of my latest projects.

I shared the picture of the slim Jims on the old Frontier Spot but since it died a while back...

The other is my latest experiment. I say "experiment" because I had never done a basket weave before and I never had done a two tone project. Also I made a new pattern for it and had to expirement a little to get the end plug right. Overall, I was happy with the way it turned out except that the dye bled into the monogram letters >:( :o (I'd sure appreciate any suggestions on how to avoid that.)and I found that I should have made the skirt a half inch longer.

I have a little bitty paintbrush I use for two-tone jobs. I make sure that where the dye ends, there's a swivel knife cut to define where the color ends. Using a small amount of dye, I paint dye right up to the edge, watching how it soaks in. Too much dye and it bleeds past the cut. In this photo, the light areas in the darker dye are wear and not a function of coverage. Pay particular atttention to the trim paint on the airplane. There's a light swivel knife cut to define it but no beveling on either side.

Thanks Marshall!
I must have used too  much dye. It looked good when I left it, but when I came back to it it had bled into the letters.

Looks good, LCR. I've been considering making a pair of Slim Jims with a period correct design for my Remmies. I may have to get on the stick and get it done.

Nice, Dogface. I particularly like your knife sheath. Good accent with the beadwork.
