I think that what (Bvt.) Col. Pitspitr is trying to say is that due to expense, let's save the medals for the main Muster categories.

Yes that's exactly what I'm suggesting. I'm NOT suggesting that we do away with medals for the main match, just that if we're going to award medals for the side matches I'm going to have to charge an entry fee for the side matches.

Col Pitspitr:

I would like to donate a prize or two from the Wild West Arms gun shop.  We can parley over what you will want as time gets shorter.

As it stands now, I will NOT be able to attend the 2009 Grand Muster.  The training schedule has us on duty that weekend and with the  train-up ARFORGEN schedule, we are not allowed to make changes.

I too see no need for side match Medals.  A popular way to run side matchs down my way is to charge a dollar to shoot, shoot as many times as  you want paying a dollar each time, with the winner then recieveing half the take, the rest to the club.  And a nice certificate as well.
Civilize them with a Krag . . .

It should be to you by now....Gosh!
It may be too late to record by now.
Oh well!

As for Muster goodies, I was pondering on brass, bullets, primers, etc, if they ain't outlawed by then.  :'(

Respectfully,

The following is an excerpt from an e-mail I got from Major Matt Lewis in reply to my question about it's status and his situation with the sprint layoffs, " The way things are playing out though, I am thinking the WW1 match is going to be a "No Go" because if I am laid off, I will be protecting income, and if I am not, I will be working my ass off."

I sure wish I could but I only get 40 hours of PTO a year with this new job. I probably won't make the Muster again.  :(

ARRRRG!

There are no such decorations as "The Victoria's Cross and Congressional Medal of Honor"!

The UK awards the Victoria Cross as its highest award for valor "in the face of the enemy". While the United States of America Awards the Medal of Honor for "Conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while engaged in an action against any enemy of the United States".

I'm sure that your error in correctly naming these two decorations; the highest that a service member of the United States and the UK can receive was not intended to insult the recipients of these medals but was rather just a case of very poor typing and extremely poor editing. I should hope that it would be fixed, now that the error has been pointed out.

Thank you for pointing this out to me. You are the first to do so. I can blame it on ignorance and poor editing on my part. I had caught the error and corrected it in most of my own documents but haven't corrected it in this thread.

No problem, I hate to see Congress get any more undue credit then they already claim, thanks for correcting it.

As a combat veteran of the US Cavalry  (11 ACR) I like to see this stuf done right.

I'm gonna add this and ask from time to time.  Most have been to Cosies Corner and seen some of the pictures, plus many have been around when I've been cooking before, just let me know what folks would like to have for items at the meals at the fort.  I most likely will do the CFS again on Thursday night because it's both a favorite when ever I make it and I can always cook some more pretty easy when folks show up later.
