There's already gonna be enough drooling, they'll probably have to have it under a tarp most of the time

...... a board member of the Friends of Fort Hartsuff....told me that The Friends had invited the Freemont Pathfinders, a (semi-) local reinacting group, to come to Fort Hartsuff that weekend ......

Well that explains quite a bit!

Last week, I made reservations for a room at the By-Way Guest House in Ord (instead of motelling it this year) and the lady I was talking to - who is apparently also a Friends of Fort Hartsuff board member - said something like: "Oh, you must be part of the Freemont Pathfinders", to which I just responded with a rather puzzled-sounding "No ....", and she then said something about this group being at the Fort that weekend "with cannons and things".  At the time, I though that she must have gotten a rather garbled impression about the G.A.F., but it now all makes sense!

Yeah, I'm not real sure why they booked 2 different groups that weekend, but what they (the Pathfinders) have to offer should make for an interesting weekend. And I mean "interesting" in a good way.

I don't know if this applies to anyone or not but I received the following from the NRA concerning concealed carry in Nebraska.

"Nebraska Attorney General Drafts Concealed Carry Recognition List
Please Thank Attorney General Bruning!

Attorney General Jon Bruning (R) recently completed a comprehensive review of the concealed handgun laws in all fifty states.  This review was done in advance of LB 430 going into effect on Sunday, August 30.  As a result of this review, the Attorney General's Office has also compiled a list of states whose Right-to-Carry permits will be recognized in Nebraska.

Nebraska will now recognize Right-to-Carry permits from the following states:

Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Hawaii, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota (class one permit), Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming

In addition, permit holders from the following states will be able to carry in Nebraska, provided the permit holder is 21 or older: California, Iowa, Maine, Montana, North Dakota (class two permit), and Texas

The following states do not meet the standards required by Nebraska's concealed handgun permit statute and are not valid in Nebraska: Alabama, Delaware, Georgia, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, and Washington"

Can "Out of staters" carry "open" in Nebraska? Publically, I mean.

Could those of you who have said that they would write the wild bunch stages please get them to me sometime this next week so that I can get the shooter's book printed?

Thanks!

Things are coming together now, I'll be sending in my registration for Muster, probably tomorrow. I have a quick question, is there an extra charge for non shooters meals? I don't see anything on that on the registration form.

Pitspitr

Yes, I forgot that. $7.50 per meal. 3 meals friday, and Saturday and 2 on Sunday.

I have a question regarding ammo containers.  I know NCOWS does not allow plastic ammo containers at their matches.  Is the same requirement in force for the Muster?  Do I need to get paper boxes for my ammo?  \

Thanks,

No, we're not NCOWS (but we aren't SASS either) Maybe someday we'll get that finnicky but we're not there yet. We encourage our members to be as Historically accurate as possible but we'r not going to send you away because your equipment isn't good enough. Well maybe I should qualify that, we don't allow tennis shoes, t-shirts or ball caps.  ;)

Howdy!
Here at NCOWS we try not to be militant about our PC'ness. (Period Correct, NOT Politically Correct  ::)  ;) )  If you show up at an NCOWS monthly match or even a bigger match with your ammo in plastic containers (like I have more than a hundred of) you won't be asked to leave ... you'd simply be asked - politely - to use something more PC the next time you attend.  And then someone would likely offer you something more historic to use until the match is finished.

We're about having safe shooting fun, as well as social fun in/with as historically authentic equipment as possible.  We're NOT trying to look for ways to pick people's equipment apart and send them home!

We DO live in the 21st century, after all.

Del, You could have sold him one of those Mossy Oak western hats that they have in the regular hat department.   SHB, You can bring your "Yankee Cavalry" uniform to the NCOWS match in Nov. I will bring mine and we can both wear ours.  My GG uncle was a Capt. in the Union army, and both of my GG Grandfathers on my mother's side of the Family were in the Army of Northern Virginia. That is the King side of the family. In fact, I have King relatives in Indiana(Sheridan).

Tex, I will not lower myself to aknowledge that those hats are even down there, let alone try to sell one. ;D

Besides I ruined the guys whole day anway, told him when he gets all camoed up and in his stand to have someone take pictures in B&W and see what the deer see. ;D
