Not to throw a monkey wrench into things BUT...........I'm hoping and praying for a nice COOL weekend, ie. 60s and cloudy during the day and excellent sleeping weather at night. These wool uniforms can be a bit warm under the Nebrasky sun. Bring something WARM to sleep in/under and expect some excellent shooting, great fellowship and some of the best "trail" eats you've ever sunk your teeth into.

Al, glad to hear you are going to be there. Remember, "the wearin' of the gray".

Gripmaker, That sounds good. I can stand the heat a lot better than the cold.

Me too. I only really got too hot wearing the wool uniform once. One Fourth of July it was over 100, high humidity, little or no breeze. I didn't go down but I could tell I was getting close.

This sage philosophy was immortalized in that classic song:

"It rained all night the day I left
the weather was so dry.
It was so hot I nearly
froze to death -
Susanna don't you cry."

(Which oddly enough also describes the variance in Nebraska weather one could experience within a 24 hour period.)

RCJ, The weather in Texas is a lot like that of Nebraska, especially in the fall. The Panhandle of Texas is always unpredictable when it comes to weather. We had snow on the 4th of July in 1944. I wasn't around then, but my grandmother told me about it.  The winters up there are tough. They lost over 3,000 head of cattle to a sudden blizzard in the spring.

If my new wools are here by then, I am hoping for some cooler weather as well. It should be pretty cool anyway, being mid October in Nebraska. Should be pushin for the frost sometime around then is my thinking.

Strong, constant wind was the weather bugaboo last year. Days were sunny and nights cool.
The regional held in April of last year at that range was cold. Tents were stiff as a board with frost and felt like I was sleeping in a refrigerator.

I'll be tenting this year, so we'll see what we're dealt.

If you Nebraska guys ain't too worried about the weather for the Muster, I guess that I'm okay with it too.  If I get snowed in for a while, I'm gonna see about a job helping Del and Terry at the Fort. They might need a "swamper".

Oh, we've had snow in Sept before but even if it were to snow that early again it doesn't last very long. When we get closer to the date we'll have a better idea what the weather will be like. If it were to be cold it won't be so bad that a jacket won't be enough.

I've just received Confirmation that we will be able to award a firearm to two lucky people at the Muster. Get signed up people! right now the odds of going home with more guns than you came with are about 1 in 12!

Col. Pitspitr, When I attended the Rock Creek celebration in June I purchased a park sticker at their visitors center. I paid about 20 bucks for it. I don't know if I will need another one for this years Muster. I assumed that it will be good at any of the parks in Nebraska for the rest of the year.
