Sunday is the first time since my rotator cuff surgery in June that I am going to try to go to a Shoot. My right (dominant) shoulder and arm are still pretty weak but I am going to try. The hardest part will be getting the gun cart into the van, I think. If I can manage that maybe I'll shoot the whole match, maybe only part. Sure will be nice to load the air with fire and brimstone again.

Alabama

Good Luck !!!!!  ;D
You'll work through the pain just fine , trust me  :D

I have had two Rotator Cuff surgeries also , to one arm , and the other is torn now too . I still go to work , I still shoot , I just don't whine about it anymore . Pain is not optional in my life , or yours , but darned if it will keep me from shooting !!!  ;D
Didn't sleep worth crud last night because my arm hurts so much , but that's life , and I am working today spraying 2 fifty year old doors with laquer that weight 80 lbs . each ...........You know why ? Because I want more guns !!!!!
You will not only load the bench in the van with help or no help , you'll shoot the whole match too !!!  ;D
Time to suck it up and make some SMOKE RINGS fill the air Wills Point Pete !  ;D
Good luck and go have fun , you'll enjoy your pain later ( trust me ) but you won't be thinking much about it while your there .

Enjoy , Alabama

Howdy Pete,

Alabama has given you some pretty good advice and encouragement. I had Rotator Cuff surgery many years ago as a result of a motorcycle accident. You might want to ask your Doctor if doing some moderate weight lifting after your shoulder heals would be of benefit to you. I'm sixty eight now and my shoulder does not get in the way of my activities.

Keep up your great attitude. Best of luck to you!

You need to learn to like all the little everday things like a sip of good whiskey, a soft bed, a glass of buttermilk,  and a feisty old gentleman like myself

Good luck Pete.  Keep it fun.  Take a few pills and you will shoot easier.  Let someone help with the gun cart.

While I don't always take Wikipedia as totally accurate, this seems to be pretty much on track.

Hey, PUK!

If I'm incorrect, someone will correct my explanation, but I think it's the upper arm (shoulder) joint area.  You know - the socket that the ball rotates in (or the muscles & tendons) to allow the arm to function.

Well, Paladin UK, you probably know it by some other name being as how Pards over there speak British instead of American.

I did not make it to the shoot. I loaded up my "92 clone(chamber empty, of course) and lifted it into firing position and swung my double barrel about and decided that I am just not quite strong enough to be safe shooting amongst the folks on the firing line. So, I'll keep exercising until I can. It's amazing how much weight those two shootin' irons have gained since I quit exercising them back in June. Oh well, in July I couldn't lift them with my right hand so I reckon I'm getting there.

What I won't do is risk dropping that shotgun with one or even both chambers full.

Dick Dastardly

Playing it safe is the Cowboy Way.  Safety is no accident.  You'll be back on that firing line and you will do it your way.  That's the safe way and the only way to enjoy our sport.

Way to go pard.

Thaks, PUK! I just finished my last cup of Tetley tea of the day. Made Irish style it keeps me from getting those lack of caffeine headaches while I've managed to cut down on coffee until my Doc merely snarls at me instead of screaming like he used to. Thanks for the advice.
