I saw that at Wally World too!  I love Robert Duvall.  The other guy is the one in Tombstone right?  One of the Clanton boys?  I'll check it out.  Looking forward to getting Appaloosa today, checked out clips and trailers last night on IMDB.

Willie Dixon, yes, you're correct he was in Tombstone. He does a great job in Broken Trail. It's a really good western. TJ

Sweet.  I didn't see it today when I was at WW... but I got the last copy of Appaloosa on DVD!  Apparently it's quite popular up here in Flagstaff!  I also bought the book at Bookman's for $3!!

That's going to be an amazing resource for my character story since it is in first person perspective like mine.  I love first person perspective, let alone the fact that it's from Everett's perspective!  That's awesome!

Now the book, I wouldn't be adverse to reading----But the movie, I hear that both Morgenstern and Harris are vehemently anti second amendment. And it is for that reason that I will not go to, buy or rent that movie!

Whatever, I mean seriously, they're actors, and actors get paid for acting and I never listen to their radical left wing ideas anyways, I mean it's Hollywood, any of the good 2nd Amendment or free American idealists are all dead now!

ok, off the soapbox.  I loved Appaloosa, second all-time favorite right behind Tombstone and right before 3:10 to Yuma and the classics of Duke and Clint.

My agreements with Willie.  If the movie is good, I'll buy it.  I don't worry any about the actors' politics.

My Walmart still has an empty shelf as they never got their allotment.  I spoke with the manager and he promised to honor the release day price of $12 something when it eventually comes in.

That's cool Trin, I got really lucky.  The whole DVD area was gone and luckily there were a few blu-ray and a dvd in a display box.  Good thing I got there when I did, it was an amazing movie.

I just received the BluRay version from Amazon.com.    I havent had a chance to watch it again,  but will real soon.   Good movie.  I would probably place it in my top 10 western movie category.

Deadeye Don, I also ordered it and it's on the way. I enjoyed it and the proper dress and most of the weapons too. While on Amazon.com I ordered The Rough Riders. I have really enjoyed that movie. When in Alabama I lived near General Joe Wheeler's home. Coon hunted many a night on his plantation. So I enjoyed seeing his part in that war. Thanks for letting me know where to order Appaloosa. TJ

TJ,   I also have Rough Riders in my collection.  While Gary Busey was a tad over the top,  I think the battle scenes and equipment were quite good.

Appaloosa made it all the way up to #2 for me, only reason why is because Tombstone is based on history whereas Appaloosa is just kicks and giggles.  The other modern one on the list at #3 is 3:10 to Yuma, the rest are all either Duke or Clint... nice to see these modern westerns are that good.

Have ya ever seen the original 3:10?  That's one of my all time favorites.  I like the new one cause Russel Crow nailed the part in comparrison, it was dead on.

yep, like that one too, but i like how this one expanded the journey a bit, and I love Russel Crow, but really Ben Foster as Charlie Prince stole the movie, he's amazing!

OK.  I just watched it again.  Well, the second half because I too couldn't finish it last night.

My original stance remains.  It's a very good movie, but still doesn't rank among my top favorites.  Yes, the representation of the period is top notch, but it's the story.  The story just doesn't do it for me.  The Acting is also sort of questionable.  I hate to say that because they are all such good actors (Zelwegger, Irons, Harris and Mortensen).  I am undecided as of the moment if it's because of Parker's novel or the direction.

However, that being said, I guess I have to rank the final "Show down" as one of my favorites.  Mortensen is just so cool!

The best solution to my quandary?  That Resolution be made into film with Mortensen and we can do a back to back comparison. ;D

LMAO!
I really liked the ending too, I just don't like the girl's part... it sucks, but at that point, it's so true too! LOL  heck, I almost became Virgil in a way, and thanks to Leo, you Tex,  and a couple of my friends, I was able to avoid that situation.
