TJ,

I just saw the 1973 Billy the Kid movie last month with Kris Kristoferson and James Coburn. You can get a DVD collector set set for about $10.00 at:

I'll try!

I usually catch 'em when they come 'round the 2nd or 3rd time and are at the $1.50 theater.

It'll be out on DVD next month (January).  If you hit Wal-Mart the first day, you can usually get it pretty cheap.  Of course, if you have patience, you can get it even cheaper by buying it used from Amazon a few days later. ;D

Guess I will have to wait for the DVD. The Appaloosa didn't even get to my area!

I looked this weekend and it's still playing at one theater here.

the DVD you mentioned "The Assasination of Jessie James by the Coward Robert Ford" starring Brad Pitt as Jessie James is on DVD at Amazon for as low as $5.00

Taw, I found it at Wal Mart. Sorry to say I paid a lot more than that for it. It is different, probably pretty much facts. I have watched it several times. Not enjoyable like Broken Trail or Open Range, but ok. Thanks for the help, wish I had read your post before I bought. TJ

Appaloosa was a very good movie. I saw it on the big screen. Good acting. I enjoyed it. I'll pick up a copy when I see it. :D

The Assasination of Jesse James was a different matter. I watched a half an hour of it waiting for the movie to get rolling. Then I fast forwarded through the next half hour's worth. I finally turned it off and sent the DVD back. I found it totally boring and uninteresting. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 0. :P

Thanks, Joss. I'll get on it. :D

Marshal, you have to get into the mood of wanting to watch a 'dark' movie....at which point you will enjoy 'The Assassination of Jesse James'.  I will say this for it...that shootout in the bedroom was quite good..:).

I'm going to purchase a copy of Appaloosa when it comes out...

You can pre-order Appaloosa for the Januaruy 13th release at Amazon.com for $19.99.

They also have 3:10 to Yuma at $9.49

Order them both and shipping is free.

Basically what I did, but since I already had "3:10", I ordered "The Assassination of Jesse James".  So many Westerns, so little time....

$17.99 at Amazon.com.   For free shipping you need to buy something else to bring your total up to $25.   I bought the Blu Ray version for $24.99 so I was one penny short.    >:(   Fortunately,  I was planning to buy a book on Trapdoor Springfields anyways.  Thus,  free shipping for both.

My cable system is now offering "Appaloosa" in it's OnDemand section. Rented it tonight, and it was money very well spent! I just might watch it again a couple of more times during the 24 hour rental period.

I gotta say that I think both 3:10 to Yuma and Appaloosa are great additions to the Western Genre and I myself hope that genre gets reinvigorated.  I'm tired of waiting five years for a good western to come out!  I love 3:10 to Yuma and I'm looking forward to Appaloosa thanks to your guys' reviews.  It's just sad that the next latest good, epic western out there is Tombstone and Unforgiven... why not more westerns?!  If there was ever anything remotely American, it'd be the western, both in history and in silver screen magic!

Willie Dixon, Might ought to add Broken Trail staring Robert Duvall. It's a really good western and based on a true story. Hope you can find it and like it. I got my copy at Wally World (Wal Mart). TJ
