Are these your guns Mike6975 ?
Is that Ted Cash front sight on the white gripped Colt soldered on or glued, it sure looks un-dovetailed ????
I like the Thunderer grip frame on the last pic you posted . Although it looks like it has substantail seperation at the top of frame where the two mate-mount up ??? But maybe the frame got too beveled over when they-you pollished the gun to white ?
Very cool guns though , me likey !!!  ;D
Good for fun am sure , but very little accuracy potential . But then again that aint what they are for anyway . I know my Poker partners only sit three feet away from me, so that is not a great distance for cheaters to go down hard  ;D
Cool pics, thanks for sharing .
I am not brave enough to hack up my guns , much , so haven't done that, yet  ;D I can see where the New Army 1858 .44 Remington has great potential to be a real snub nose man stopper though , especially with a conversion cylinder in 45 LC .... :D
And NO , there are not five Aces in a deck of cards , these guns made that Law I am sure .

Sincerely, Alabama

mike6975

no sir there not,i don't pretend they are,i use them for a reference for a poker table gun project like you said, and yes there a 3' foot hole burner like you stated.sorry if i gave you the impression i owned them.

No problem , just thought I would ask if they were yours or not . I had no idea , and you gave no real impression either way , so I had to at least ask and give some compliments and observations if they were yours anyway .
So what are you working on , come again ?????
Got any pics , yet ???? I wanna see !!!! Now my intrigue is up on making one of these sometime , gee thanks !!! Wheres my flaming hack-saw anyway !!!!  ;D

if you look at my profile pic i want to make a copy of the bottom dealin mike made,he also writes for guns of the old west,i've stayed in contact with him and he said he doesn't mind it.it's a cut down remmi 58' with a kirst or r&d cylinder and a top rib cut from the scrap barrel eith the site still on top and silver soldered to the barrel and a birds-head type grip that he just contoured.and it's a pietta.i love this lil monster!,and is first on my list to create. ;D

If you are worried about hacking up your guns, save up the $$ and get a spare barrel through VTI Gun parts.   Cut it up.  Just a thought (I am going on the premise you have the c&b revolver already.

mike6975

yes i do,there from cabelas, and i do hack one up,but i use the scrap parts over, and i practice with my files and tools on these as a learning tool more so than anything else.

The barrel idea is good , on a  Colt . Except what if you want a Remington poker table killer . Then you gots all that work ahead of you and all . It would be cheaper to just hack up the Remington I would think ? The time involved in rebarreling the Remington " Right " would far outweigh the cost of a new gun in labor easilly . Tha tis for me cause I am slow of course .
Time aint free . As cheap as a Pietta New Army is anyway , seams a good candidate for the chop job for sure . Uberti on the otherhand I would be less likely to be chopping up unless I really wanted one that had to be a Uberti .
Just a thought  :D Now I don't have to think anymore today , I have done enough for one day .  ;D

this is why i hack up DGW and cabelas, because of there prices ;D

Hoof Hearted

I built that Remington Army in the second pic of your opening post, last year for a pard here on this forum. Actually if I remember right, he cut the barrel off, then had me draw file the markings off, install the front sight (from Craparral 1876), and blue with the "aged" look. I also stripped the grips and tung oiled them (after sanding them to fit the frame correctly). ;)

You already have my Remington posted.  After shooting it a couple of times it looks even older now.  Hoof Hearted built me a wonderful shooter.
