It's cool outside and no wind. Miss T is enjoying her patio.  She was glad when the Dish network guy left yesterday. She doesn't like strangers in her yard. I still don't know price the gas is.

Reading about the gas prices - here in "Lost Wages", it's $3.36 for regular 87 - got my mind to wanderin' back over the years and the prices I've seen come and go.  When I was in high school and puttin' in time at several different stations around the little town I lived in, 100 octane premium was around 19 0r 20 cents/gallon, and I'd pump it for ya' and check your oil and clean your windows, and blow up your tires, all included.   8)  Some ten years later, I was commuting to work in my race car, a '68 Chevelle SS 396 with a cammed up and Holley 800 fed Rrumbler motor, and I pitched a blue fit when Richfield went to 35 cents for super premium.  Another ten years along, I did the same thing again when I was on vacation, and had to pay 77 cents for premium in the remote High Sierra region.  Guess I must'a got numb after that; I still stew about it some, but there ain't nothin' to be done about it.   :-\

Arcey, that business about history and calling thing by their right (to us) names, is a lost cause, I think.  I got on my grandson one day about calling a carrier a battleship, and he told me that it was a ship, and it went into battle, hence any ship that did that could be called a battleship and it was a waste of time to try to make the distinction; didn't mean anything to him, he's not going to go into the service, anyhow.  And, he also made a comment to me about history and the lack of interest in it; I was "lecturing" him about those who do not learn the lessons of history being doomed to repeat the errors.  He said that his is a new generation, and they will get their education from their own experience, that they don't see the world the same way as I do.  Many young folks today seem to have an entirely unattached view of life.  I asked him if he has been folowing the presidential race, and if he could vote, who he'd vote for. He said no, he had not "really" been paying any attention to it, why should he if he couldn't vote?, but he guessed he'd probably vote for Obama.  I asked why, and he said a couple of his teachers had told all their students to do that, because McCain, and later on "that lady" (Palin), were crooks and liars.  Joe is 17, a senior, and an honors student.  I am afraid to imagine what the less motivated kids think.  Arrrghh!!!!

That's enough ranting and raving; I'll stew the rest of the day, now.  Got's to go do something productive; Joe wants me to (help him) install the new spoiler on th trunk of his car, if it gets here today.

Later.

Went over to Costco, they don't have gas pumps at this one, but, I did buy gas on Midlothian Tnpk for 2.989 regular unleaded.

I'm with you EP. I pumped gas fer $0.179 when I was a kid in Dallas. Got yer tires checked, oil checked an' winders warshed.

Goin' to college I paid 'bout 20-25 cents/gal.

Happy Birthday Leo!

I can remember stations having gas wars and the price getting down to 15 to 20 cents a gallon, oil, windshield washed, air in the tires and a free car wash ticket.

Hear what yer sayin', EP. Jist that this one, the village idiot, is older than I am 'n styles himself an expert.  Thing is, Amy Airhead listens to the crap 'n don't know no better. I say anymore'n that I'd go onna rant.

April, '71. Bought me a brand new car for $2,900.00. Werkin' full time fer the city for, I think it was $412.00 a month. Was payin' $100.00 a month for a nice one bedroom apartment with central A/C. Never had A/C where I lived before.

May '74. Bought me a house for $20,000.00. Three bedroom 'n a yard big 'nuff ta build a barn in the back, easy. Sold it six years later for $45,000.00.

Least I'm old enough ta have used leaded gas, and had got it fer under a buck.  .759 seems ta stand out in ma mind but I'm sure it was lower than that when I first got behind the wheel.

EP, thanks fer the wishes.  I have always preached importance of history to the kids.  They get all cross eyed and smug that they got it all figgured out.  Guess it's all part of the cycle.  When it gets completely futile I just say,"I got a much better chance of winning on Jepordy than you."  They all think I'm wierd. ;D

SB - we are you buying Gas. :o

The going rate in Manassas is 3.20 - 3.29 for regular. ;D

Costco is the place to go for Gas - if all you do is buy Gas there - you pay for your basic yearly fee after about 4-5 months.

PR

PR, the price is always higher in Fairfax County than in Prince William County due to road taxes.  I has sometimes seen a 10-20 cent price difference just by crossince the Occoquan River.  FYI, the Costco near me do not sell gas.
