thats a real tragedy  :'( and I can't help but wonder ??? where the un-fortunate lad's parents were when the child was handling A LOADED FULLY AUTOMATIC WEAPON AND TO MAKE THINGS WORSE THESE KIND OF TRAGEDY'S ARE COMPLETELY AVOIDABLE ....... and you know the anti-gun liberals are going to use this catastrophe to shamelessly lobby stricter gun laws :-[ I have an eight year old girl who I want to teach to shoot and take her hunting (before her mom can give her bambi-syndrome) but I would never even dream of letting her handle so much as a TOY gun with out teaching her proper gun safety it is another sign that common sense is not so common
the line between genius and madness may be a fine one ,but theres a big brick wall between crazy and stupid

Swordboy, The Range Officers at this shoot were very professional  and did a very good job. However, I did see some kids that were in line for the rentals who I felt shouldn't have been allowed to shoot any of the Full auto guns. The club had a lot of other options for anyone who wanted to shoot. I feel that it may have been the parents of these kids who wanted their child to be able to brag to their buddies that "I got to shoot a Machine gun this weekend" I have always felt that size matters when handling firearms and that should be taken into account before handing any dangerous implement to a child. I wasn't there on the day the child lost his life and all I have posted here are just MY thoughts and feelings on the subject, I have no proof that this is what happened. There are many possibilities how this terrible event came to be and we may never know all the facts. But you may be correct in that the anti's WILL use something like this to further their cause. I really don't know what else to say about this other than I feel sadness for the Parents of the Boy and for any of the people who may have witnessed this. It will be a memory that no one should ever have.

Trinity, did you have yer Revolutionary war era campout yet?  or is it still in the future?

OT, that's the weekend after next.  The way things are cooling down, I think I need to seek out a few more blankets. :o :D

That uzi story is a tough one.  There's going to be hell to pay over it, you can bet.
I feel terrible for the family.  8 years old is pretty young to handle something like that, I've started all of mine on a single shot .22 LR, and I know even that could go bad.  Like I said, it's a tough one.

     God bless.

An 8 year old kid should not have been shooting a machine gun anyway. I'm sure that the outfit running that shoot will put an older age limit on the handling of weapons.

Headin' back ta the sack. Long story on the loss of power o'er the weekend. Ended with chain saws, machetes, an argument with a supervisor 'n a new transformer. The crew didn't leave here 'til after midnight.

Mount up prayer posse.  An 8 year old boy was shot in the head while handling and Uzi at the Machine gun shoot today.  (This is the one the Major went to on Sat and hoped he and I could meet for it.)  He was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

:'(

The Uzi was never designed to be used by 8yr old children. :'(

Prayers Up.

Very Sad. :'(

VVery sad, indeed. Our prayers and condolences :(

Nice door stop , OT ;D
it's 36 and spittin' snow here. Have to take Sandy to Wade Park tomorrow morning. The SNOW BELT.......oh joy ::) Surgery is Wed. morning, so we'll have two trips and possibly a third by the end of the week to get her home. We're hoping to get them to hold her until Sat. morning so we don't have to miss a third day of work this week. I also have a training class on Friday that I can't miss as well.
Took her car over to Navarre this morning to get the air checked in those crappy tires( no go in the snow). The local station''s air chuck ain't workin' right...........Buck 8) ::) :-\
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

After the juice was restored Sunday mornin' @ 0400, *POOF* again @ 1530. They get here @ 1645. Replace fuses again. We got power back @ 1720. Asked one of the crew as they were packin' up when he thought they'd be back as two other sets of fuses had blown in a l'il over twelve hours. Said he'd run diagnostics on stuff 'n it checked out.

1910 it goes again. 2020 the same guy shows back up, alone. Tells me an entire crew is finishin' up on sumthin' else 'n they'll be here shortly. 'Bout ten minutes later the posse arrives. They huddle, they talk, they argue, they drag out all kindahs stuff. The one that showed first done already said the transformer was shot even though it checked out. The bosses show up. More of the same.

One comes to me. Says they're gonna change the transformer. He'll have ta run a bucket truck up ta the barn. That idea went south when I showed him where my underground oil tank was. It took three attempts to explain to the genius the crew that replaced everything on the pole after Isabel had backed up to the pole thru the buffer zone 'twix the office buildin' 'n the back yard. They huddle up again.

Truck leaves. No loss. There's five of 'em. Show up in the parkin' lot behind me. Chain saws. Ten ta twelve foot trees planted six years ago start ta fall. Two guys are cussin', all caught up in briars 'n swingin' matchettes. Now they got 'em a nice driveway ta the pole.

Everyone leaves. Show up in the back. They get the transformer up 'n the power back on @2355. Gone at 0015.

There's debris all out in the parkin' lot back there. They ain't doin' nothin' ta get it up. Like I care. Ain't gottah truck ta toss it in anyway. Bet there was a very friendly phone conversation this mornin' 'twix the management of the offices 'n the power company.

So much for salt spray......
