Uberti 1860 Richards-Mason Mainspring

Please pardon my ignorance on this one, as I've never owned an Army-gripped revolver.

Is the mainspring on a R-M Army longer than the mainspring on a R-M Navy? I always assumed it was, because of the longer grip, but VTI lists them as the same part:

UB:000020 Uberti Mainspring (1851, 1860, 1861, 1873SA, O-Top, R-Mason, R-Army, R-Navy)

So now I figure I must be mistaken.

SURPRISE!!  Same same.  Main Springs are interchangeable.  If you want to go to a lighter Main Spring, call VTI for their after-market reduced power spring.  You may have to do a minor amount for fitting to clear the back of the hammer on compression, but basically it's a drop in.

You know, nothing feels as good as a hand filed mainspring to your own personal like, but the only two times I've ever broken mainsprings were on two that were hand filed.    You can run a Colt with the other springs broken but not with a broken mainspring and man is it embarrassing.    Lately, the factory Uberti mainsprings are just right to me. I detest the feel of ultra light springs as they take away from the feel of the design IMO. That's also why I do not use a coil bolt spring or a coil hand spring. I'm just an ol' traditionalist I guess.

The length of the Army gripframe is different, but the location of the Mainspring screw is the same as the Navy (and SAA) in relation to the main frame.
