I am new to this type of revolver, I am trying to learn as much as I can so I can get them out to the range.
They have Kirst konversions in .45lc.
Is there anything special I need to do to them? Can they be fired with both Smokeless and BP?
Eventually I would like the later but would like to get them to the range and put them on paper to see where they shoot.
Any help or insight would be appreciated.

You'll be fine and so will they be , useing Cowboy Action loads in modern gun powder .
Nothing you really need to know about the rest of the gun , just go shoot it and let us know how she worked out for ya .
Be safe , the rest is elementary  ;D

Howdy, Ranger!

If you get the Kirsts (or the R&D) they will shoot smokeyless loads just fine, as long as you follow their warning: BP equivalent loads ONLY.  There ARE some loadings on the market geared for hunting, made by Cor-Bon (and perhaps others) that are about what would be called 45 Colt MAGNUM; however, they are clearly marked on the boxes something like "for Ruger, North American Arms and Contenders ONLY!"

If you buy the regular "Cowboy Loads" available you should have no problems.

OR - use Black Powder loads (available from Goex) and shoot those guns the most FUN way!  (And don't let ANYONE tell ya horror stories about "how hard it is to clean after firing BP!"  :P  They know NOT of what they speak.)   It IS messier, but after you get the hang of it, it's not only less work, but faster, too.  Just a bit messier.  Did I say that already?  ::)
