Well pards my commitment ta the Holy Black!! cost me dear today!!

I`m the Only Picketts Hill Marshal that shoots Only BP in all their smokepoles and today it cost me dearly!!

It was a booootiful day, with nearly No wind whatsoever!! and our range is a BIG dug out hole!! So you can guess what happens when ya let off more than 1 rd!!  In one stage it called for a 5 rifle shots from the hip on a target `bout 20 ft away, after my first rd I could not even see the target!! Sooo I had ta just `go for it!! and I unloaded the other 4rds in short order!!
The result was..
1 hit, 3 in his hat and one is still on its way!!

Part of another stage called fer 5rifle rds on a target to the left and then 5rds to a target on the right!! by the time I`d got to 7 rds I was duckin `n` weavin just ta see the target!! But I managed to get all of those on!!

Bottom line.....
We got pards shootin jest nito, some 50nitro-50bp and then ya got me!!

So theres No way I`m even gonna win !! I finished 4th out of 9 BUT it wuz my decision ta embrace the One True Powder!! And so by my reckonin, I`m a WINNER EVERY TIME!!!
;D ;D

Well Paladin Uk ,
It is always better to be loyal to your love , than to win .
Once you turn Black , you'll never go back .
When you do finally win also , you can be just that more proud of your desicion to have been loyal to the Dark Side . Rightly so you will have really earned it too . They did not have Pyrodex back then , and they should have a seperate class for it now too .  It aint the same as shooting the Holy Black , not in Spirit nor any other way except your loading it the same way . JMHO .
I am certain some people shoot Pyrodex and the others to gain the advantage against Holy Black shooters , so they can win that way, not because it's easier to clean or anything else actually . JMHO .

Good luck next time , shoot faster , and dazzle em with the brilliant colors of fire and smoke , and maybe they will count wrong with all the smoke in thier lungs and eyes . Use your Magic Black Powder for good next time !!!!

Later , Alabama

The bright side of shooting Black is that it IS more difficult. I shoot the ca'tridge guns. A .45 Colt with a full charge of 35+ grains of The Holy Black and a 250 grain bullet kicks more than my service revolver. A full load of black with an ounce and a quarter of shot kicks more than my managed recoil buckshot loads. I may never win that brand new Cadillac at my shoots but when I go home after the shoot, my defense guns are  featherlight and very fast. That's worth a lot.

Angel_Eyes

Sir Charles, what PUK means is that it is possible to obtain converted cylinders over here in Britain that are modified or manufactured to have the front of the chamber to take the original size ball, the middle of the chamber downsized to use about 3 grains of Bullseye (or equiv.) and the rear drilled out to take a shotgun primer. This of course makes for cleaner burning, less smoke and easier cleaning as well as taking away the chance of jamming due to shattered caps in the action.
I guess this is our equivalent of your Kirst conversion cylinders.
Any questions???

Ho Sir Charles,
Good ta hear from ya pard , Preacher yer Son `n` heir couldn't make this months shoot but he`s itchin ta shoot with us agin so hopefully we will see him at the Oct shoot.

Do you remember one of our shooters (Chips), he was shootin one of those conversions. he uses 3gns of Bullseye in his. The conversion costs around £200.00-£275.00 PLUS re-proofing which sets ya back another £30.00-£40.00 so, yer lookin at an all in cost including a ROA of around £900.00 which comes at around $1750.00 PER GUN!!

Paladin UK,

You are a winner every time shooting the One True Powder.  Never doubt your commtmant to the One True Powder. ;D

This last weekend I was at the ULTIMATE BP MATCH.  It was the 145th Anniversary of the Battle of Chickamauga.  It was an all BP match.  We had Longstreets Corp from the Army of Northern Virginia, the Army of Tennessee and a bunch of Yankees. ;D  We even had a night BP shoot. ;D  There were thousands of us literally.  If anybody is interested in the results, the Confederates won.

The night BP shoot was a blast.  The Yankee artillery were about 400 yards from us.  I was with the 1st Mississippi Light Artillery.  We fielded a 3" Ordinance Rifle.  There were a total of ten Confederate artillery pieces for the night shoot.  Between us and the Yankee artillery there were Confederate and Union infantrymen down in this little valley.  At about 8 pm we opened fire.  The clouds of smoke and fire we made were truly awesome. My batttery was shooting 1/2 lb charges everytime we fired the gun.  Do these qualify as Warthog loads?  In about 45 minutes we had completely filled the valley with smoke.  There is no way that you culd have seen your targets in these conditions.  Truly the fog of war.  It was an unbelievable sight.

In the near future I should be able to post some pictures, assuming I can figure out how to.  We are collecting a bunch of pictures in one one group and once I have them I will try to post some.

Actually my avatar is one of the pictures I got at Chickamauga.  It is a real tintype which I had made at the reenactment.  I scanned it into my confuser and made it my avatar.  That is my Pedersoli 1859 Sharps Carbine in my hands.  It is a blast to shoot also, although I didn't shoot it at Chickamauga.  Too busy shooting the Ordinance Rifle instead. ;D
