Rowdy, I have a 28" barrel, no interest in shortening it. I actually would like it to be 30"  ;D I did not take any pics of the buck. it was at dusk and no camera available, also I shot two does with my bow and this spike, and the three don't equal the 7 point that my wife got with her bow and i havent heard the end of it. but I will get ou in december for oour doe only hunt. I would like one more deer. we canned some and it is great.

Well the season came and went for me with nary an opportunity.  Hope to rectify that next year.  Might go over the mountain to hunt in eastern VA if I can find a place to go, and time...   ::)
Sincerely,

Congratulations on your Hunt. Now as far as the pictures I have a hard time getting them also and it was my wife who took my picture after I had gotten home from Hunting .I have had a ton of fun while doing the primitive hunting it doesn't matter if I'm hunting Turkey with my hammered double barreled or if I'm using my 76 for deer . Hope everyone had a safe and fun filled Hunting season . At the end of December we have a Youth season and I am taking my son Deer hunting and he wants to use my 73 rifle I hope he can get the old Mossy Horns we have seen But not during rifle season .

Dirty Brass

No luck on my end with the 45/60 or the 44-40. Did get a grey squirrel with the 45/50 for amusement purposes. Going to try again in 11 days during the doe only 4 day hunt. Hope all has a safe season and a memorable one!

I shot two Elk today. A 7x7 Buck with about a 44" spread and a cow.

They were culls outta my pards herd. Shot the cow in the head, the bull in the shoulder (he'll make a nice shoulder mount).

Shot both with the Crapparal 45-75. Distance was about 100 feet for both shots...........Gould bullet worked fine ;D
Took longer to clean the rifle than to gut the pair. Sure gonna be good eating, though!

Thanks but this was no "hunting trip". We drove the tractor through the gate and they all came up looking for food. Raising Elk ain't a whole lot different than cattle :D

This Deer season is over and I had a Great time hunting . I have been sitting around the house and thinking about next year .I have a 24 inch barrel in a Cimarron 45-60 and hope to get to use it on the Monster buck that roams those woods . When I field dressed the buck and saw the damage that Big Slow bullet did I was impresses . I will work up a good load over the summer with some Goex and do the Vintage Deer hunt all the way .

Gents,

I am trying to work out a wild hog hunt with my 45-75 this year.  I'll post the results, if luck is on my side.
