Taurus is coming out with a new version of the Colt Lightning rifle in 45. Due out in early 2005. It's named the Thunderbolt since there are companys making Lighnings. Looks interesting. Here's a link if anyone's interested. By the way, they are already being sold in Australia of all places. Strange.

Maybe one of our 'down under' pards could enlighten us on this one?  If it works, and considering the Taurus warranty policy, and factor in the price (if it holds true) this will be a winner for both taurus and us cowboys.
Well..........Bye!

I believe the innards aren't going to be exactly like the Lightning, more along the lines of their other pump rifles already on the market( Winchester's).................Buck 8) ::) ???
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

Hope it works cause it looks fast and it's affordable.

I also really like the steel buttplate. Makes it look period.

Everyone I have talked to all settle on $345 and up...  Sounds like a great deal to me!

Basing my opinion SOLELY on photos and Taurus' reputation, it would seem to be a winner.  I hope the Thunderbolt AND the Gaucho both get approved by all the Cowboy shooting organizations.

I like Taurus weapons!  Not all that fond of many foreign guns, but I'll wager it'll be a mighty fine pump rifle.
I may even buy one if I get to be fast, someday. ::) ::) ::)

Steel Horse there's no reason for them to have to be approved. They are external clones of guns that existed prior to 1899. The innards don't matter.

The new on-line catalog lists a MSRP of $475 for the Blue or Color Case while $575 for the Stainless version.  Looks great when compared to $1300 & up for the USRA version.

Okay will this gun even be legal?  I know people here are assuming it is, but what does SASS or NCOWS say?  I would love to have one, (in .45) but I don't want to buy "window dressing" either...

Marshal Halloway

I can't talk for NCOWS, but I just got off the phone with Hipshot and he says he has just seen the prototype, not any model from the production line. As far as he could tell, it will be SASS legal.

We expect to have the Taurus Thunderbolt in .45 available in Cas City in the middle of August.

I posted elsewhere, but I made some inquiries last week.  One of the distributors said they were here now.  But has none currently.
