Also Terrapalne, or as in Hudson, Essex and Terraplane.  Archey and Edith's old LaSalle ran great.  American Bantam, designed the Jeep, ended up amkin' the trailers, Ford and Willy's made the WWII Jeep.  Tom Mix died in a Cort, same company as the Dusey, also made the Auburn.  Not to be mistaken for the rubber Auburn cars and trucks we played with as kids. ;D

Duesenberg.  Same company built two other cars.  All were very pricy.  Can anyone remember them?

BTW, Del beat you to it.   :)

International Harvester, built the Scout and some fine pickup trucks too.

Their "Traveller" was a precurser to the Surburban.

My Great Garamma had one, an she used ta take us ta Bob's Big Boy in it fer strawberry shakes when we was little.  The thing was pristiene like it had just rolled off the lot.  Suicide doors and room fer about 20 in the back.  Neat car all around.

Del posted as I was posting.  Got Duesenberg ("It's a Duesy, Dad."), Cord and Auburn.

I missed Terraplane.  They were bought out my Hudson and the name incorporated as a nodel, but she stood alone for a couple of years.

American bantam indeed invented the Jeep, but weren't big enough to build the qauntities the government needed.  Too bad.  Great little company.

LaSalle had a great car with reallt poor management.  caddy bought them and has a cadillac LaSalle for a few years.  Marvelous transmissions for hot rodders in the 50s and 60s.

Tensleep didn't read the rules.  The Scout was and may still be the best 4WD truck ever made.  I lost a friend when he was driving his to work.  He was T-boned by a five ton truck carrying a small skip loader.  The body came of the frame in one piece, but he was tossed all over the inside and died instantly.  IH used to market a conversion kit for the Scout thar replaced the front wheels with skis and the rears with tracks.  I've only seen two and would love to have a good one with the snaomobile kit.  I think it also included an upgraded heater and electrical syatem.

John Deloean was American, but his cars were as Irish as Paddy'y pig.  They don't qualify.

Also my little TR3A doesn't qualify because it was English. (Before we started calling them "British".)  I loved that little booger as much as I did my MGA 1500, 1600, and Twin cams

Allstate counts.  It was sold as a seperate brand name...for about $600 in 1949-1950.

Opals are German, but the company is owned by an American company (GM?).  My wife's BIL has a '69 Opal GT coupe, kind of a mini-Corvette Stingray looking thing.  He still drives it when the weather's good enough so's he know he won't freeze to death walking home.

Either of y'all ever own a Scout? We bought six brand new in the mid-seventies. The only thing I've ever seen what made a Ramcharger seem like a decent vehicle.
