I had the pleasure of re-enacting with my SSS pard 12th Illinois at the Victorian days Civil War battle in Jerseyville, IL yesterday! (I would be there today, but I am sick as a dog!)  Our unit, Co. F 12th ILL had to "cross dress" and become confederate!  We were defending a wagon train of original period wagons from Federal scouts and artillery. He blasted away with his Spencer and I blasted away with my Henry.  There were two others in our unit Henry rifles besides me, so we were a heavy weapons squad!

We was all killed or captured, as the Federalist numbers were just too great!  At one point I heard a Federal shout " Damn!  They got a bunch of repeaters!~"

For blanks in my 45 Colt Henry, I used Terry Schultz's carrier block with a set screw, modified bolt, and blanks made from 38-40 and 44-40 through a 38-40 with a taper gizmo crimp die.  They worked great, but because of the chamber on  the 45, all split out.  As I have about 600 rounds of 44-40 and 38-40, I am using them once.  After I run out, I will get a  star crimp die and start using the 1000 45 colt brass I have.  I tried the 410 blanks, but my Henry didn't like them.

Though I missed having a Spencer, I unleashed 16 rounds of blanks at a cavalry charge (all loaded with 30 grains real BP) so fast you could hear the crowd gasp! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Sounds like a bunch of fun.  It's about time the Yankees felt the wrath of the mighty Henry. ;D

In three weeks I will be part of Turner's Battery(1st Mississippi Light Artillery) at Chickamauga.  Really lookin' forward to it.  Will be usin' a 3" Parrott gun.

What problems did you run into with the 410 blanks in your .45?

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a handsome, and well preserved body; but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming...."WOW!... What a ride!"

Howdy pard,

The rims seemed to be a little too thick, and it would close all the way and lock up.  The 44-40 rims were almost too thick.

I have seen the 410's work in several .45 Henrys.  It seams that this product from Uberti is not consistent.  Were you having trouble getting the ejector to grab the shell and pull it out?

The extractor engaged fine, but the rim was too thick.  The tolerances are so tight that 45 Schofield and 44.40 are really tight, but 45 Colt seems OK.

I plan on playing with it, though.

One of the others uses 45 Colt with the set screw block, and uses a star crimp, but does not fully crimp.  This allows them to be re-used.  He plugs it with foam or newspaper.

I wonder if using a supersizer 77 on the brass might make a difference.  I would be willing to send you a few of the 410s that I make for you to try.
