Looks really authenic to me Pard, so what's the problem, I think you're being over critical of your work, and way , I mean WAY TOO HARD ON YOURSELF Pard, your Knife and your sheath looks like it just walked out of the 1800's, I thought that was the look you were going for, Like HP said you can always throw it my way. You need to step back and take a good look at it, I think it might look different this time, you know when we're the makers we always tend to see things wrong that others don't .

You did GOOD Ace  ;) :D Now take a BREAK  ;)

I am just mad because I used saddle skirting on the back, and I couldn't get it burnish as good as I wanted! And if I hadn't have used  that skirting I could of made the stich lines look better! I got a Dodge City Double Strong , with a 3" belt. When I get it more along I am going to make another sheath for it, I have some knife blade blanks coming in, and this winter I hope to put some nice looking knifes and sheaths out!

Thanks for the Kind Words!

I think you'll be surprised how well your stuff will be received. Remember, most people don't even relate to the idea that someone actually makes these things. Don't be hard on yourself and don't feel apologetic when you show it off. You're doing fine work.

I like the sheath, too, Ace. Nice color and the spots tie it all together. Looks like a page out of Packing Iron!

Ace,

Hells Bells...if you want something that looks like it came off an assembly line...go to Wally World and get a Chinese knife and sheath....custom work is not easy, but it lends itself to and allows each person to express themselves.
That's my opinion and I'me sticking to it  :D :D ;D ;D ::)

Hey Horsepen...I'll share the spurs with ya...you get one and I get one :) ;D ;D ;D

Ace don't look bad atall - FWIW - my scrapbox gets a regular fill-up as does everybody I know - Tain't a one of us is perfect, in fact a feller wrote about my work one time and what he said fits me to a Tee:
"You have captured the elusive Zen concept of perfection within imperfection"

and another pard says "If you can't fix-it feature it" and I'm here to tell you I do a lot of Featuring!

Heck them tain't spurs - these are Spurs!
5" rowels.......

or these if you feel like a rooster and want to do some fighting!...

 :)Thanks CB,
I am humble that you didn't think I did that bad of job! And mam o man on them spurs :o :o
Since I am not a horse person, wern't most of the big pointed type spurs just for dress or something?
I was told you would never stick your horse with something like that!

I just got to keep working on fine tuning my leather working and slow down! that is my biggest problem, I can't do things that I use to, so it takes me so long to get things done, that I will get side tracked, and then when I come back to a job I get in a hurry and don't do somethings I had planned to do>

Ace - I'd reckon for most of us going too fast can be a problem, especially near the end. I know when I get close I want to see what it looks like and that's when the oops happen most often - when that starts to happen I just remember that old Simon & Garfunkel tune..
Slow down you move too fast.....

Aslo remember what Thomas Edison said regarding the invention of the light bulb (a paraphrase) - "We found out 10,000 ways not to make one....and Ford said much the same thing about his first cars....

I've always tried to teach don't be afraid to "fail" as there is no such thing, it's all just a learning experience. Also IMO there are wrong ways to do things, but there is NO SINGLE RIGHT way to do things. For instance when I blew out my neck and low back in 1982 I had to adapt my method of sewing (and a bunch of other things) from the traditional "always holding the awl and both needles while working, never setting them down" method, but with my neck injury I no longer could so I adapted - if I hadn't I would never have been able to sew. I know for a fact my adaptation makes some of the "traditionalists" cringe, but it works and allows me to keep working - and since it;s how I keep a roof over my head and food in my belly it's something I HAVE to do.
Also maybe a matter of semantics but I will NEVER criticize another persons work - I will offer a critique but never criticize (well except in one case - when I think/know something is dangerous...)
Anyway hang in there and remeber to stop and smell the roses now and again - especially the wild ones  ;D

 :)Good Day CB,
I thank you deeply for the reply! I allways over take to many thing to do at the same time! Thats were stopping and smelling  the roses comes into play, I have never done that, and I am trying to learn how!! ??? One of my biggest problem is, when I feel good enough to be in the shop, I want to get everything down I can ::) ::) .
But I just can't keep trying to do that!!
i was doing so good when I was doing it slow with out putting so much pressure on my self, which is so stupid :o I have no place to, no time table to get anything done. But before I got hurt, I allways had 2 jobs and sometimes 3!, I never ever took any money out of my main pay check to play! Allways used my other jobs to make my play money! Now I buy and seel reloading equipment and broken guns to finance my playing and last week I just jammed myself up trying to do to much because I put my big footin my mouth and bought out a small sporting oods stores reloading stuff, and had to borrow the money to do that, so I needed to sell enought of it to pay back the loan ??? ::) ::) ???
thanks for the kind words and your time!
