I don't know how folks can handle all that FLAT!

You need to dig up half the state and pile it up on the other half so's you'd have at least one little mountain.
People like me are the reason people like you have the right to bitch about people like me.

I lived for a time in northeast Arkansas. It was flat. It was flatter than a prepubescent gerl. Other than two cottonwoods planted in the yard, there were no trees.

I didn't shoot while I was there for I had the fear that if I missed the target there was nothing to stop the bullet until it reached Memphis, TN!

It was skeery.

Del and I talked about it a while back. Women left on the plains by themselves while their men were off "killin' stuff" or doing the things men do, often went mad or committed suicide.

I can relate to that.

Just remembered one thing. Even though I don't live in flat country. I live by the seaside, so I have at least one flat horizon to look at. It's so flat that you can see that the world can't possibly be flat. :o ::) ;D

But it's only flat a few miles on each side of the Platte river, that's why the Oregon/California/Utah trails ran up the valley.  They ran the telly-graph, the UP the Lincoln Highway (US-30) and I-80 for the same reasons.  The rest of the state is hilly, but the world thinks the whole state looks like i-80 as they pass throught the valley. ??? ::)

They had the fella from the tourism dept on the radio the other day, folks call and E-Mail and ask if they leave I-80 if they can get food and gasoline. ???  I would be tempted,to send back a message "No but you can get oats fer yer horse and just cut ya a steak off'a one of them cows and build a fire of chips. ;D ;D ;D

No mountians in the early teritory days we had the ones in Whyoming and we let them have them, just like Kansas they let Colorado have theirs.  Mountians just attract yuppies who want to ski and back pack, do you know how much money it costs a state to rescue them when they get in trouble. ;D

We went on I 55 & I 40 on our way to Hot Springs Village 'fore we went to Council Bluffs. Yep 'tis flat and (economically) depressed area. Went right by the Remington munitions factory.

Four out of six on Saturday. Had the death star on that first stage, and saw the two coming on the last stage, but didn't stop myself in time.

Sunday I had two out of five, but on one stage I was goofing off and laughing so much I couldn't hold the rifle steady at all and happily took three rifle misses. But my times are getting better, I am almost back to where I was when I shot Traditional. (Can't count the time on that death star, that is an aberration!)

The problem though with the women going crazy though was more isolation.  They might not see anyone but their family for weeks on end till the country got build up.  That could also happen in the woods.  When settlers moved into the Virgin forest they most often settled together for protection from the Indians.

When the western part of Nebraska was settled that really wasn't needed so the first ones in claimed what they thought looked best, most often along a creek with a few trees.  These were few and far between so the nearest neighbors might be several miles away.

And I can't stand being in woods that I can't go to the edge of and look out of once in a while. :o

Through the use of a very high powered satellite, much more powerful than that which Del uses, I have obtained pictures of Miss Annie's new Greenhouse:
"Finest partner I ever had.  Cleans his paws and buries his leavin's.  Lot more than some folks I know."

Four-Eyed Buck

I thought it was bigger than that, Trinity...........Buck 8) ::) ;)
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

Trinity

Look, Buck.  The government even coded it: "Large walk in".  That's it, I tell you!

Posh, thinking I have such a wimpy greenhouse!

Here's a pic from the catalog:

But I've gotten the hint, I'll take some pics.

...and here I go, tap into a highly sensitive satellite and I am lambasted!  Boy!  Shows you two things:  1: the government is not on top of things like they say they are and 2: Some folks is easily offended!

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Talking of frying pans. My better half made pancakes in our 12" cast iron skillet last night.  ;D The Doc said her iron levels are low.  :D
