My name was translated to the way it sounds, too: Baltiweskohovomarkolantinowski.  It's pronounced JONES.

Folks call me Hey You for short, if they call me at all.

Ha again! You took that out of a Robert A. Heinlein book! It was in a discussion about the name "Smith." But do you remember which book it was?

HA! Your ownself.  It ain't in any RH book I read.  I made it up.

BTW, I love the political and social commentary in Starship Troopers and Farnham's Freehold.

Some of his stuff is great, some is bovine excrement.

Then you were channeling him. Is your middle name Kate by any chance?

So do I.

Forty Rod,

I think Troopers is my all time favorite Heinlein book, I would disagree with you on the bovine excretment but I do agree that some of his books are an easier read then others.

Joyce (AnnieLee)

I think my all time favourite Heinlein book was "The Puppet Masters." It is the only book that has actually frightened me. "The Exorcist" didn't even come close.

Boy, talk about bouncing around! Hope you kids are having fun! Myself, I never got into Sci-Fi that deep. More of a history reader........Buck 8) ::) :o ;)
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

Forty Rod

Science fiction is history that hasn't happened yet.

I couldn't finish Stranger In A Strange Land nor Methuselah's Children.  Sixth column is okay, but not really very good.

Puppet Masters is scary, but the movie they made of it with Donald Sutherland was just plain stupid.
People like me are the reason people like you have the right to bitch about people like me.

Joyce (AnnieLee)

I remember the movie being awful, but don't remember Donald Sutherland being in it. Didn't he also star in the remake of the one with the Pod People?

Trinity, they went to the One in Bennet Newbrasskey.  We have several in town and the area that have good Mexican food, not Tex-Mex, which is good also.

Morning, folks! The coffee is hot and fresh.

Speaking of fresh, where's Scattered Thumbs? I think he was off yesterday, but shouldn't he be back today?

My flannel corset dress arrived yesterday. Whoo hoo!

Trinity, at one of the meetings this past month, one of our foriegn visitors commented that the meetings were good, but he could not find a decent steak in the evenings. During a break, I walked over to him.
"I know where you can get a great steak."
"Oh? Where?"
"Just head on over to Nebraska," I hooked my thumb in a westerly direction, "they have excellent steaks there."
His eyes got bright at the idea, "Can you give me directions?" Then he paused, brows furrowing. "Isn't Nebraska in the midwest?"

:D

AnnieLee, messing with the French.

<grumble grumble grumble> FRAINCH!!  >:( >:( <grumble grumble grumble>  Good fer you, Miss Annie!!!  ;D ;D

The website doesn't give me a feel for the size of this. Is it on the scale of a mini-cooper?

I have a feeling it is tiny.

If you're talking of the mini-coopers of old, it's slightly larger (about one foot longer). Curiously it is quite roomy inside  ;D

But not big enough to carry the gear for a Cowboy match! It looks about big enough to maybe carry a 1911 in it!

Come to think of it, I have no 1911 either (just a copy in 9mm). Hmmm! maybe I should worry  ::)

Well, at least I have a gun in .45 ACP, and it's more recent than the 1911. ;D It's a 1917.  ;D
