One down, one to go:  who has the title and words to a song that goes something like "It went 'whiz' when it ran, and 'pop' when it stopped, and 'whirrrr' when it stood still.  I never knew just what it was and I guess I never will."

I remember Burl Ives doing this many moons ago:  ;D ;D

Marvelous Toy
When I was just a wee little boy. Full of health and joy.
One Christmas morning I received - A marvelous little toy.
A wonder to be hold it was with many colours bright.
And the moment I layed eyes on it It became my heart's delight.

CHORUS
It went "zzzip" when it moved,"Bopp" when it stopped,"Brrr" when it stood still.
I never knew just what it was, And I guess I never will.

The first time that I picked it up. I had a big surprise.
For right on it's bottom were two green buttons that looked like big green eyes.
I first pushed one, And then the other, And then I pushed its lid.
And when I set it down again This is what it did.

CHORUS

Well, the years have passed Too quickly it seems. I have my own little boy.
And yesterday I gave to him My marvelous little toy.
His eyes nearly poppedright out of his head. He gave the squeal of glee
Neither one of us knows just what it is, But he loves it just like me.

CHORUS
repeat:
"I never knew just what it was
And I guess I never will."

Tom Paxton wrote "The Marvalous Toy" song.  Don't for get I'm an Ian Tyson fan, he was good when he sang with his wife Syvia, but since he got divorced and moved to Alberta and started writen' and singing western music he is one of the best going now.

Del, The deer were back last night. Had about a 120-140lber. back here last night. With in touching distance from Sandy's window! Four of them in all, three on the hill and the big one on our side of the fence. Between the squirrels, the raccoon, and the deer, I'm surprised the birds get anything to eat........Buck 8) ::) :o

P.S.

Trinity, that was bad. That was evil, wicked, horrid bad. You *know* you gave me the perfect setup line, and you know that in a somewhat family oriented message board, I couldn't use it, at least, not directly!

I am starting to think that you are related to Forty-Rod.

:P

AnnieLee

Now Annie, why on earth would I want to do something like that.  I am a family oriented person, I would never dream of suggesting something... wait... the process by which a family is created is... hmmmm.  Well, I guess I am indeed very family oriented, so... GUILTY!    ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ::)

Del,
The wind is 18 mph from the WNW. The temp is 38. Temp is supposed to drop. Is it below freezing in Lincoln, yet?

Joyce (AnnieLee)

Morning, Del, Cousin Slim!

You should've stopped by for breakfast yesterday. We had home fries and yard eggs. It was yummy-ola.

Will finished two practice projects with the leather. Both of them are surprisingly good for a first timer.

The boy has an artistic bent that I could only dream of having.

It'll probably be years before Will is that good. Leigh was shipped to Bob Mernickle yesterday. I hope they enjoy the note I included with her.

Here's a song to get ready fer yer Alberta Clipper Slim: ;D

Well, them ol' boys in Texas chew copenhagen
Wash it all down with that Coors
Ain't a bit bashful about speakin' their minds
They'll tell you what's theirs and what's yours
There's Waylon and there's Willie,
they own about half the state
And sing of her glories all in song
Talk about your lovers and your fighters
wild brahma bull riders
The whole thing takes a holt and goes on

Ride with me Jesus, help me pull this heavy load
Don't let her slip, don't let her slide
You answer all our questions further down this muddy road
Old cowboys cross the Great Divide

Well up north it's saddle broncs and it's hockey and honkytonks
Old Wilf Carter 78s
Dumb stuff like chores when it's twenty below
They're the things that a country boy hates
Too much damn wind and not enough whiskey
Drives them ol' northern boys flat wild
And he many go to Hell or even Vancouver
He'll always be Alberta's child
