I thought Slim's baby was due around the time of the GAF Muster, but I don't remember when that will be and can't find it on the GAF page on TFS.

It's the last weekend in Oct and that's too long a time, I was thinking and I think I'm right, it was about a month before my step-daughter is due, so this should be right.

Well, Pappy, I guess congratulations are in order, at least for your wife.  She built the craft, you just laid the keel.

Everybody okay, requisite numbers of fingers and toes, all that?

Joyce (AnnieLee)

One of the high points of my year so far was the distinct pleasure of meeting Cousin Slim, his wife, and four wonderful daughters at the NCOWS convention in February. It was one of those things where I knew him as soon as I saw him. My son was with me for the trip. There was lots to see and do, and we had a great time. We got to meet a bunch of great pards, including Del, Gopher Grease, Terry Lane, the folks from the Fort, St. George, oh gads, I can't remember all the names, and don't mean to slight anyone, but that's not my point. The Slim family had been on the road for a week, but they weren't grumpy and frazzled, snapping at each other like most large families would be. The girls were a delight, so proud and so derned cute in their boots and dresses!

My son is a pretty typical 15 year old. He does goober stuff, likes TV and video games, is messy and sometimes a royal pain in the neck whom I love dearly.

On the way home, I asked him what his favourite part of the weekend was. Without hesitating he said: "Getting to know Slim, Mrs. Slim and the Slimettes!" That's pretty impressive, coming from a teenaged boy.

But that's how they are. They are warm, kind, friendly, funny, and wonderful. They were a joy to be around and I love them. There are cousins of blood and cousins of the heart. Slim and his family are cousins of my heart, and I couldn't be happier about the birth of their son.

Making joyful sounds,

AnnieLee

Mighty fine, mighty fine.  Gongratulations to all the participants.

Dang, if he entered this world weighin' 9 lbs 11.5 oz. and is 22" long, bet he's already got a start on a little red beard, and gonna be datin' in six months. ;D

Joyce (AnnieLee)

Aye, that's a BIG baby! If Mrs. Slim had him by natural childbirth, I'd bet she'll be walking around like John Wayne for a while. :D

Maybe instead of flowers, I should send warm packs and ice packs?
