I have SPUDS!!!

That's right folks, AnnieLee has 'taters!!

I just went and dug up a mound of red ones and a mound of white ones, and now have a nice little bucket filled with spuds.

Yeah, yeah, I know. I can hear all you grumpy and surly folks saying "SO WHAT?"

Well, I've been trying to grow potatoes for five years. Every year I've gotten nada, nothing, doodly squat. But this year they actually grew, spread, bloomed, and slowly died back.

I HAVE SPUDS! I'm gonna cook 'em and eat 'em!!

Capt. Hamp, these were fresh and warm from the soil. They didn't need to be peeled! Scrub them to get the dirt off, boil, and serve with butter, salt, pepper and a little dill.

Sides that I have relatives in Oklahoma.   In the Carman tradition of doing things different, my Great Uncle Elis moved his wife and three kids down there in the 1930's from Newbrasky, at the same time that hundreds of thousands of Native Okies were loadin' up their, kids, dogs and chickens in old cars and headin for Cally-fornia.
