Maybe I'm asking for too much, but heck, they asked!
I said I wanted the RNV in 44-40 with a Birdshead and Sheriffs option.
I also said I wanted the ROA back!  4 just isn't enough I guess... ::)
If you haven't seen it, it's on the Ruger Home Page.

Hello Ruger

These are the things I wish you would do

#1 Bring back the old model Vaquero for those that want it , and those that shoot the NMV that want a stronger gun for hunting.
#2 put out the big bore Bisley in SS,  with the option of 5" through 7 1/2" barrels with adjustable sites, and fixed sites.
#3 Give us a Bisley model in the New model Vaquero, in blue & SS with the same options in barrel length
#4 Give us the option of 44/40 in the NMV,
#5 Bring back the beautiful polished mirror blue that Ruger used to put on there Black Hawk, and offer it on all models of Single Actions.
#6 make a Sherifs model with a 3/3 1/2" barrel in 38/357, 44/40, 45, and 32/32mag in the NMV.
#7 Offer True- Ivory Grips fitted to your gun at Ruger, for an extra charge of course.
#8 Ruger should have a Custom Shop, where you could get little extras done , like name or a little engraving done to the customers liking, at a fare price.
#9 Start making the Rifles and Shotguns  we use in Cowboy Action Shooting, these guns would naturaly be stronger than the originals, and would be used as hunting weapons also, I think Ruger is missing out on a great opportunity with the long gun market, A Ruger 45/70 Sharps woud be real nice.
# 10 Ruger did a nice job of hiding all the warnings and signs on the New Model Vaquero's , I'd like to see them do the same thing to the rest of their line of firearms.

Will this is my WISH LIST, it would be nice if some of these things could be done. ::) :o 8) ;D

That's a great list tEN wOLVES.
What I would like to see is the OMV brought back with the cylinder timed to load and eject on the click.  To me that was the one true improvement in the NMV.  With that, I'm seein the perfect gun in any caliber.

Your right, your sugestion for an indexing cylinder would really be a big plus for the old model Vaquero, and make it a lot more user friendly, GOOD POINT, one I forgot to mention. ???

I would like to see Ruger make a replica of the Remington Model 1875 that can also be used for hunting. It was durable and reliable in it's day, but with Ruger it will be even better! ;) Oh one more thing, I want the Old Model Vaquero back!
A work in progress.

Well since it's a wish list, somethin I always wanted ta do with my OMV is have it fitted with one of the beefed up non-fluted cyliners that they used on the Super Blackhawk.  They don't just look cool, they can take a little more punishment.

Being realistic, any requests would have to fit into current production without causing too much disruption (disruption costs and business is rough).

What could be combined easily would be:

NMV in 44/40 or 44Special or a convertible, even if it was an annual special run.

OLV in 38/357 for the gamers who like the extra weight of the old model for controlling recoil (such as it is in gamer's loads). These would be a good money spinner for Ruger, even if they dropped the 357NMV. The top loads in these would not be a good prospect I'm thinking. I don't shoot sissy calibres in single actions, so I'm no expert on this.

If the Old Army is no longer a viable product (and that would be the only reason they stopped it) a relaible alternative would be a cap and ball cylinder for a NMV.

As to making Sharps style rifles, I think yer dreaming there. Ruger are set up to produce via investment casting methods and most shooters of Sharps style rifles would turn their ose up at these methods, even though they are invariably stronger, cheaper and more accurate.

I would like to see their side by side available with a set of hunting barrels and a short set for cowboy shooting, but Ruger shotguns are impossibly expensive her ein Australia, even though their rifles and pistols are reasonably priced. Volume I suppose.

It's no good getting too excited by a narrowing product range, as most gun manafacturers are barely hanging on or are gone already.
All my cowboy gun's calibres start with a 4! It's gotta be big bore and whomp some!

Not if they used the non-fluted Super Blackhawk cylinders...hmmm.  Time the index right and them would be some shooters.

If we are talking wish lists here, then could you all please petition the  Ruger CEO and the British Government to allow us to have cartridge handguns again.
Mr. Ruger CEO, just think how much profit you are losing by not being able to market your products in Britain.
Surely there must be an international law against restriction of trade! (Can but try)

Well, since he asked...

My suggestion would be to improve your current quality control; my new JW Vaquero is the fourth gun I have read about recently that had the transfer bar break; I've owned Rugers in the past and this never happened before.  I'm not sure what the acceptable limit is, but this part should never fail, ever.  I've seen no technical alert or notice from Ruger, so they must regard this as a rare occurrence.  My definition of rare I expect differs. Other than this message on this forum, or a direct call to Ruger (which I have made), they appear to have no easy mechanism for owner input; their web site is singulary bare - no forum, no email, no chat, nothing to provide feedback to Ruger, which they apparently think is a good idea.  Maybe it is.  My last Ruger.  >:(

Marshal Deadwood

Id like to see Ruger build authentic 'colt' open tops....the extra strength of a ruger design would be a definate plus to the open top/conversion 'colt's'

And , I bet Ruger could build  a Win '73 that could take good stout loads...

Just muzin' here,

md

I second Marshal Deadwood's opinion on both the Open Tops and the Winchester '73.

As we are limited to Cap & Ball in the UK,  a replacement for the Old Army on a Vaquero size frame would be great.
