Anyone tried this powder in the Spencer? I am using Unique and IMR4227 currently. My load for unique is 8.7 grains, which I have chronographed at 870fps average for the carbine and rifle. I suspect that the powder is burning completely in the rifle barrel so I am not getting any added velocity. my 4227 loads have yet to be tried, hopefully this week. I'll chrono those also.

i use 'lil gun in a beowulf application. everything i've read is that it is an extremelly hot powder for pistols. i would think that there are better powder applications out there than this. but let us know how it works for you. good luck, geo.

I use it my 500 smith. It seems as though some of the smokeless loads were concocted by comparing case capacity with the 45 colt and using 45 colt loads. I am going to try some 4227 and the loads that seem to work best are equal to top end 45 colt loads. I'll call hodgdon and see if they will help. I have a 4#s of lil'gun so I thought I would ask .
