That looks awesome, in my opinion, it's really cool how that got it to look. The graininess makes it all the more authentic looking.

How are those Pietta's? I was thinking about getting a pair, mainly because I hear their grips are larger than normal. Any thoughts?

I love mine, the grip feels better in my hand than my Uberti Millenium.
My lil Pietta is conical loving monster where as long as I do my part I can usually keep a 2.5 - 3" group @ 25 yards using 30gr. FFFG Goex & the .456 220gr. Lee Cast Conicals.

As you know, I own a pair of each. The Pietta grips seem to be a little fatter in the middle -- another way to describe this is that the grips make the "handle" seem a little more round. My problem with them, though -- and its something I've mentioned here before -- is that the Piettas' hammer spurs are just a wee bit taller than the Ubertis. My left thumb can engage the hammer spur, but to engage the hammer spur with my right thumb I have to shift my grip. I have no such problem with the Ubertis.

This is clearly a personal-fit issue, since I have large palms and short fingers. Your experience may be totally different.

Didn't you modify your hammer spurs on your Pietta's?
I've thought to do it but I don't have much of an issue with mine

Howdy ya'll

I thought I would share my observations here as I own multiple New Model Armys.......originals, Piettas, Ubertis, and the Euroarms family of names.

The Pietta is the closest to the Original (although there are differences in the original also). Yes the grip is "fatter" but that is easy to address. The shape and placement of the grip frame is the closest to original by far. The Uberti comes in second (although the location of the grip screw and escutcheons on them since the late 70's is completely wrong). The Euroarms has a smaller grip but the frame is made in such a way that the grip is rotated forward towards the trigger guard and this causes the "knuckle rapp" that so many complain about.

Here's my opinion, whatever that's worth.

Buy a new Pietta or a "pre" 1980 or so Uberti.
Or buy a dozen or so until you find your favorite

Not yet. It just hasn't come to the top of my to-do list yet...

thanks for the advice everybody, I definitely plan on "playing" with my Remmies when I get them... my 1911s are anything but stock. I, like Daniel, have a huge paw and stubby, strong fingers, so it'll be interesting. I did pick up a Pietta and held it in one hand and an Uberti in the other, gotta say I like the Pietta. Now it's just figuring out a way to keep them while being on a college campus... lots of drama there. Probably moving off-campus at the end of the semester just for that... can't even have them until then. Store won't even sell them to me.
