Have been lurking for a while and have now discovered that I need some help from other forum members. Last week I bought an 1858 (1863) Remington 44 ca. made by E.N. Santa Barbara in Spain. She is a beautiful revolver and fits my hand almost as well as my Colt Navy.

Here are a couple of photos of her:

Have not found much information online or at the library about this Marque. I have noticed some other forum members that have the same revolver and hope that they might have some answers or advise.  I have notice a few others in the forum have had experience with the SB Remies.

My questions are:

1. Since Santa Barbara no longer makes this revolver, which current manufactuer is best to use for replacement springs and other spare parts?

2. Which replacement cylinders fit best? The current cylinder has some nice engraving on it and I would like to not use it as a primary cylinder.

3. Which nipple works best and what size/thread count. The current nipples/cones are a bit mushroomed and need replacing.

Thanks in advance and I hope to report back once I have taken the ole girl to the range.  The SB looks to be very robust, with a good strong mainspring...even after backing out the adjusting screw a bit.

Empresa Nacional SANTA BARBARA ....
I actually had one of these on a prop trailer once.... I remember it being rather unique so I looked it over
but I don't recall if we used it in the Film ..."The Blue & the Gray "
My memory is pretty clear it felt very similar to the feel in the hand of the then current Lyman imported Euroarms Remingtons.
That is to say it had smaller grips & feel ...
I suggest you contact VTI I doubt he will have parts, but he might confirm Euroarms parts as a close match or perhaps Uberti ...

as an aside Empresa Nacional SANTA BARBARA made assult rifles of the old German pattern like the Mauser SturmGewehr 42 & 45
for the Spanish Army. They also made Mauser 98 actions that were imported here for Sporterized hunting rifles.

that is a very interesting find....just for HA Ha's check inside the grip panals to see if Western Costumes Rentals ,  Los Angeles, CA.
or WC {R} - LA is printed there.
when planets align...do the deal !

The only one I have seen and fondled had the same "feel" as a Euroarms but that's just the outside. I have no clue on the innards/cylinder/etc.

It sure is pretty!  I like the wood of the grips.

Pretty pistol, Spritsail Jimmy.
If memory serves the Spanish firm Santa Barbara made them and other BP guns during the 1970s and 1980s. If I recall rightly the company does no longer exist.
Quite a few of their Remington replicas came with some type of factory engraving and varnished grips. They could be had in plain jane version as well. I am not aware that the plain versions were offered in any other finish but black. Fit and finish is at least on par with contemporary Euroarms and Uberti remmies.
You might get further background info from Dr. Jim Davis at RPRCA.

I remember CVA sold a Remington made in Spain, back in the 70's.

I got one S.B. ... They Stpped makin' them about 20 years ago at the Santa Barbara Arsenal , Spain. Parts are gonna be tough haven't shot this one much as I have 5 others. But I do know that Cylinders from Uberti, ASP & Euroarms, also Pietta fit in my S.B. Pietta is a closer tolerance than the S.B. Cones size is a 6X.75mm there is a short and, ss short short...can be trimmed I do believe, same thread as Pietta,11-50-16 treso may do it. Parts I think will be touch and go.

So you are the one I was bidding against on Gun Broker for this revolver.  Congratulations, you got a beauty and very rare Remington.  Santa Barbara's were manufactured in Spain.  Company still in business but they are a military supplier and have not produced the Remington replica for many years.  CVA was one of the primary distributors but I have never seen CVA's markings on any of the Santa Barbara revolvers.  The revolver you have has engravings that are unique.  I have two other engraved Santa Barabaras that have the same engraving and are different from yours.  If I had been paying attention to the end of the auction I would have paid twice what your bid was.  Great find!!!  My advice--don't shoot this one.  Too valuable as a collectable firearm.  Case it and enjoy.

The picture I retrieved from the auction shows a serial number of *01307*.  Is this correct?  If so it is the lowest serial number thus uncovered. Our lowest number is 01591 (not engraved).  Highest is 07330.

Just liberated #90950 from a collector. She is a plain jane version.

I cannot tell you the going rate in the USA but I purchased this one at Egun auction house at a steal, for less than € 100,00 which equals ca. $ 130,00 at today's rate.

OOOOHHHH........ You really DID get a deal. I'm so happy for you. The one I handled was much like the Euroarms guns, light weight, pointable, and better made. I already had 7 or 8 Remingtons at that time so I felt I couldn't justify it. I thinned my herd and am considering calling the guy that had it to see if he still wants it.
