Plastic side sheilds won't stop a lead slug, they keep splatter out.

Dusty, my concern would be the wire screen splitting, rupturing, or fragmenting on impact and doing as much or possibly more damage than the slug itself.

PS- Speaking of bounceback, has everyone seen the clip of the guy that has the riccochet from his .50 BMG hit him on his earmuff?

They were but then I thought I might be bidding against on of my NCOWS pards and quit.  I they appear to be what Sears refers to as "Drivng Glasses"  I have a pair that my old optometrist managed to fir my old prescription into.  The problem is that after having my cataracts removed the correction isn't what I need and most of the newer optics places to want to mess with old time riveted frames.

I thought i would bid on these and see if they to were riveted.

My friend Deputy Duke bought the pair at the convention and since he only needs them as safety glasses they work fine for him.  he bought them from our banker John Irons.

He has another pair... they are screw templed so lens are replaceable
They are sure better looking than my yellow Polycorbonate S&W modern glasses with Buckskins & Conversions

I will not bid aginst you Will. I will do the outright purchase, (buy nows). Or purchase from an antique dealer. If the screens seem weak, I may add fiberglass to the outside half, but the first thing i will do to see if modren safety lenses can be installed in them.

But they are like "Hollywood Henrys."  ['92s with the forestock removed and recievers brass plated]
They look okay to anyone who doesn't know better.  To me they are clearly 20th century glasses.

The idea is eye protection paramount and looks ....

read the thread , I'd love to have PERIOD safety glasses but they don't exist YET !
These are a Whole lot better looking than my yellow S&W wraparounds and at $10 bucks, I aint hurt.

besides that ...even my S&W are not as bad , you might never notice them,  as some of the wags show up in Tennie Lamas & Ruger Tee's

One thing is a good passing persona, is way better than an obvious 21 century pair of Okley's, Ray Bans or Serengeti's ...
When someone builds a better mouse trap ( Glasses) I'll be first in line...
Till then I'm only out $10

Besided what about the,  false fronts at ranges , Saw Horses with saddles , and the afore mentioned Tennie Lama's & Rugers

JMHO ...other flavors will vary  :P

The Eastern Regional will be here before you know it.  And this would be a good chance to see what Type of eye protection we can come up with . If everyone is looking we should be able to come up with several types , then from there we can decide what works best for each shooter .
