But you didn't get to shoot the Henry this weekend because it was too cold?
I shot the 30 bullets I had for Henry. I have to get some more, but I'll wait 'till it warms a bit or my hand might become part of Henry.  :(

I'm waiting for my Brownell screwdriver set to arrive before I adjust Minny.

AnnieLee
What are ya goin' ta adjust on Minny?

I took Henry apart for an inspection and cleaning. Yes, I have disassembly instuctions and schematic.  It had a bunch of metal filings in the action. It is spankin' clean now. I even got it back together right on the first try.  ;D

My Baikal is not recoil activated, though. I am have trouble with it doubling on me (both barrels at once). Ouch! I know what is happening but don't know how to fix it. A gunsmith already supposedly fixed it but it still does it. But my better half bought me a Lefever Nitro special for our anniversary, so I have another SxS until I get the Baikal fixed. I am now looking at a N. R. Davis mule-ear. I have some money left over from selling guns to buy the Henry.

Slim

Both barrels at once get stylin' points. ;D ;D ::)  I do that a'purpose, when the stage says double tap, pulling both triggers at once (or as close as I can get).  Works best with the loud smoky stuff.  Cornfuses the scores though.  ::) :P ;D
But two shells per target sure eats up the ammo.  ::) ;D

That's why I only do it on stages callin' for double taps.  No waste, no worry.  ;D ;D ;D

Minny isn't hitting the primers consistently hard. Manatee told me to expect that and told me how to adjust it. I just don't want to mangle the screw heads, or Manatee would mangle me!

Federals, and I'm almost out. But nobody within 40 miles of me carries them. I may have to switch to Winchesters.

What I've heard is Federals are the softest metal, then Winchesters.
I bought CCI's a couple week ago because the "toy" store was outta Remingtons,  but I got a misfire in Henry with the CCI's. I am going to try to find some Federals for Henry so I might be able to lighten the hammer a bit.

<---------Thinks the inventors of single-trigger doubles ought to have been horse-whipped. ;D

There is a reason that the English put double triggers on 99.99% of there doubles used for dangerous game.  <They dont break very often and when the do only one side don't work!!!!!>  "Scuse me Mr. Cape Buffalo with the bad temper, my single trigger double rifle has screwed up again.  Can I make an apointment to continue this next week." ;D

One glarin' defect in the Henry, noted to Oliver Winchester was the fact that hands tended to stick to the rifle in winter and tended to get blisters from burns in the summer. ;D

If yer gun won't fire hard primers there is a problem that needs fixed.  My Ruger SSM will fire any brand of small rifle primer and it has a safe 1 1/2 pound trigger.  (SSM's are Single-Sixes in 32 mag)

<Thwack Slim, I know you are goin' ta fix it right, but him lookin' fer Federal Primers cause Henry won't fire CCI's all the time.  If one of his children was sick I hope he would find out why. ;D ;D>

I haven't ruled out CCI's yet. I only shot 30 rounds in Henry with 1 misfire. I put the misfire back in the rifle and it went off that time, so it might have been me.  ::) I need to get some more boolits fer more extensive testing to see if there is a consistent problem.
<No whacking please.  ;D>

Del, if she's not firing Federals, she definately needs to adjust it some. Feds are the softest with Wins. next, not sure where Rems fall in the order. CCI's are definately the hardest cups. This I know from experience.............Buck 8) ::) ;)
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....
