called up to Calbela's last night trying to get a ball park trade in on My OMV Special Edition 1-700 made, has had abot 250 rounds shot threw it, he said there wasn't any demand for the Old style, and it wasn't worth much!! Is that true? I am just trying to find out my next move!

I would be great full for anyone that can give me a shooter point of view! Am I going to be stuck with a dead horse? The amount he said it trade in was, will be the biggest loss I have ever taken in my life on a gun!
I realy would be great full for any advice!
Thanks ACE

Howdy, Pard,

Trading almost anything to a retail dealer will seldom net you what you can get in a private transaction...if you know what most comparable pieces are selling for privately...which may be the rub!  Car dealers, gun dealers, etc., want to give you the minimum they can get away with, so they can make more.  There is, after all, some discount on a used gun (even with just a few hundred rounds through it) over brand new.  And we all know that automobiles, trucks, etc., begin depreciating the moment you drive it off the dealer's lot.

Now, it may be that the dealer either doesn't want a used gun competing with the sale of a new one, or just doesn't want to bother with the paperwork involved.  In any case, I'd suggest the following:

1. Try advertising in you local paper, IF they will advertise private gun sales (Denver newspapers will NOT!!!).  Be careful about disclosing your address.  Better to meet at a local gun range or other public place that won't freak out at the site of a gun.  (Out in the country is a BAD idea...you could get robbed!)

2. Contact local clubs and see if they will let you put up a notice on their bulletin board or in their newsletter.

Hope this is some help!
