Hi,
finally got my 76 MWMP in 45-60. I didn´t like the original powder-eating .45-75 round with the expensive brass so asked the German distributer if I could have it in .45-60. He said yes, Chaparral would make me one if I took it for sure. But it would take some time, say, 6 weeks. This was December 2007. Today I received the parcel and must say, it is a beauty. Wood-to-metal fit is very good, steel parts have a good polish and blueing. The distributor gave it a trigger job and tuned the action a little. Trigger is fine, action is still a little stiff. Price was the same as for the usual ..45-75 ones, which reads around 1600 $.
Tomorrow it will go to the range and if it shoots as good as it looks, it was worth the waiting time.

Hello there,
first time at the range today! What a difference between the Mountie and a usual Mod. 76 rifle! I had one with octagonal barrel and 28 inches barrel lenght. This is one heavy rifle! But the Mountie is a charm to carry and a pleasure to shoot. Okay, I admit I used only smokeless loads today for the first try. The best loads grouped around 4 inches/100 meters, the worse were around 6. With these sights, 4 inches will be the best I can do. Now lets see how it likes blackpowder.

Hi Oklahoma,
it is a 300 grain bullet from an RCBS mold and 24 grains of VV N 110, brass is made from 45.70 Winchester shells. Weekend will be blackpowder time with a Lyman cast 350 grain bullet and Swiss FFg.
Bye

Welcome, MannitheGerman. :)

Sounds like you have a very nice 45-60 SRC.  That's my favorite caliber in the 76.  Looking forward to your Black Powder range report! :)
