Greetings, Troopers!

As you may now know, we will be doing an Honor Guard / Flag Detail in Evansville.  Apparently, the fine fellows of KVC already know about it and without horning in, I need to know details, if possible.  Right now, I know of 4 members (River City John, Dr. Bob, Lone Gunman and myself) who will be there, but I'm sure there are others and I hope more will volunteer.

French Jack will be bringing the NCOWS flag, but it has no standard.  We have no other flags, or flag straps/leather.  A GAF flag would be great to have, but that would be 3 flags, so at least 5 Troopers would be needed.

Can anyone else help?

Thank you all ... and I apologize for this seemingly "last minute" tasking.

LtC. Bailey Sir,

Well I contacted Rowdy and asked if he wanted one.  He said yes and I have gone and done nothing. :-[ :-[  You acted before I got my round tuit! ;D  I will check with Grizzle Bear about the flags that we used at the Convention.  Should be able to bring them.  Don't have the carriers though. :(    Sir, I will report when I have had a chance to speak with GB.  I am volunteering tomorrow [10 am to 5 pm] at the National WWI Museum. [In my WWI Capt. uniform.]  Should get a break and be able to call him.

Don't have the carriers though.

Carriers (or frogs) really aren't necessary.  We had some at the SASS Convention but the flags wouldn't fit in the sockets, so we just held the flags with hands only.  Worked fine.  The frogs are usually only needed when you're going to be carrying the flags for more than a few minutes or if there is a wind blowing.

Col Bull

No, Sir.  But I came here first and haven't checked my e-mule yet.  I'll check as soon as I finish posting this.

US Scout, Sir - yep, actually, in every flag detail I've ever been on, we had no flag carriers.  It's been hands only, like you said.

Thanks to all.  I think it'll be a good representation.

The only flag I have is a Calvary Guideon, Red & White stripped, & gold stars in a circle. Designed upon one of the standards lost at little big horn.

Howdy, Dusty!

I think I know the Cavalry Guidon you're referring to.  Would you be able to bring the Pole?  We need anoother standard, since French Jack is bringing an NCOWS flag (without standard) and Capt. Lou Graham is sending me the GAF Flag (without standard.)  Griz is bringing the National Colors and an extra standard, so we should be covered.

The Guidon you have is a VERY handsome looking flag.  Is it the swallow-tailed type?

Thanks,

Bvt. Lt.Col. J.C.Bailey

I can bring a pole also.

Dusty

Great!!  By the way, how's Erlangen?  I was supposed to be stationed there, but got sidetracked and spent my time in Fulda in the 11th Cavalry, instead - thank goodness.  (Nothing wrong with Erlangen and the units there; I just preferred the mission of the 11th and being Cav.)  I visited Erlangen many times, however.

Thanks from we who presented: "Dr. Bob" Dorian, "River City John" Covert, Brian "Dusty Tagalon" Bauer, and me.  And Rob "Grizzle Bear" Brannon, who didn't march, but who supplied much of the equipment.

We were small - but mighty.  It was an Honour for us to "give back" something to the rest of the great pards who participated in the National Shoot, and to those of you, like Texas Jack, Rowdy, J.D., French Jack and the rest of NCOWS as well as the WSSC (West Side Sportsman's Club) who put on this great event and welcomed us all with open arms.

Those of us in the GAF serve all of YOU!

Your Obd't Sv't.
VERY Sincerely,

Some of us are good as a bad inspiration or example.  :o  ;)  ;D
