I am a hair width away from pulling the trigger on purchasing one of these, but need more info. Anyone have one of these? Is the grip a Navy size grip or is it the same as the 1860 Army?  ???

Hell-Er High Water

Preacher Clint,

They have the Navy size grip with the brass trigger guard and back strap.

I have a pair of them that I installed gated converters in and shoot BP, 38 Long Colt cartridges with a SWC hollow base bullet in them.

Nice guns, but as is the case with most Italian revolvers they need a little tuning and smooting up for best performance.

I think that you will like them as C&B or with converters.

Well, UPS just dropped off my 1862 Army Police. I like it, though the grips are a little small for my hands. This is a beautiful piece! I have two more c&b cyliders on their way, as well as a Kirst Converter. Just don't know if I can bring myself to cut the port in the recoil shield. We'll see. I just worked up the courage to port my Uberti 1858 Navy yesterday. That took three weeks to decide, sooooo ---  At any rate, I'm pleased. Looking forward to the Part II in The Chronicle on tuning the 1851. I figure most will transfer over to the 1862. Who knows. When I get a few dollars ahead later on, I might pick up a mate to this revolver. ;D ;D
