Had a lot of interestin replies .it seems to be really such a personal choice, So, I feel the Only way forward is a consensus of opinion from your side of the pond!!, this I feel is my only hope of finding the most popular answer!!!

I used FF in everything from .32 to 12 GA now.

I shoot 3f with match winning results in .44 mag, 45LC, 43 Spanish, 45-70, 50-70, 56-50, 36 Maynard, 50 Maynard, 54 Burnside, 44 C&B, 54 Keene, 54 Mississippi.

I shoot 2F in 69 smoothbore.

Well, since ya insist on narrowin' it down - FFFg for me.


And your Poll is gonna find 2F the most popular.  Somewhat.  Like I said, pick one or t'other.  Or switch from time to time.


Annealing cases ... case-neck reaming ... you're settin' yourself up for too much work, pard.  Sure, it works.  But so does NOT going "the extra mile."  As you get more and more hooked on BP, you'll want to simplify.  BUT ... iffn yer havin' fun - then DO IT!! 

So use 3F in all!

I only use 2f in shotgun and 43 spanish

I have used 3f for those and really prefer it in my 38 spl and 44 russian laods

So if'n I had to choose one I would go with 3f straight up.

I use FFFg in pistol caliber, and FFg in rifle and shotgun. But, if I only had one I'd go with FFg.

I simplified a few years ago. FFg for everything. 12 Gauge, 45-70, 45 Colt, 45 Schofield, & 44-40. If I wuz loading 38 Special with BP I would probably use FFg in it too.

I mostly use CTG but if I were choosing between 2F and 3F I go 3 because you can use a little less in the big cases still get the same spped and use fewer $. (around here 2F and 3F are the same money)

I, like many use 2F for the smoke pole and 3F in the revolvers, but if I had to go with one I'd choose 3F.

Mostly I use "Cartridge" in my cartridge guns (Sharps, revolvers, leverguns & shotgun), 3F in the C&B pistols and 2F in the Hawken.  But, if I could only get ONE, I'd have to go with 2F.

Hi pards! i've shot muzzleloading rifles, shotguns, and c&b pistols for over 20 yrs, used mostly 2ff, except for my 32 cal hawken pistol i use 3ff in it. thanks mb
