Capt. Texas Elliot

Hi, has anyone purchased from CA Boots?

I am looking at a pair of these boots http://caboots.zoovy.com/product/X1SCWCAV/CAVALRY_BOOTS__STOCK.html and just wanted to know if anyone had a review?

Many Thanks

I haven't heard about them specifically.

I'd personally prefer the ones marked "Officer's Boot, Stock" as they don't have the 2" Cuban heel and the toe is more squared.

I have the great boots from Fall Creek Sutlery that have an even lower heel and my feet thank me every time I wear them!  ;)

The newer version doesn't have as pronounced a flap as shown, but are still higher in front than in the back.

They are nice boots, but are not correct.  If you are going for an Indian Wars boot, the heel is all wrong.  The Cavalry had walking heels.  I got mine last week from Frazer Brothers.  They were also, at least $50.00 less than CABOOTS and are the same boots that Fraser Brothers seel to the US Army for Cavalry Honor Guards and such.

Once again, for Indian Wars, the second pair of boots on the top row in the picture.

Many thanks Gentlemen. Since I posted the above I have been in contact with the chap from Butternuts and Bluecoats and he has some one piece front boots with the lower heel and squarer toe for $130US. http://www.butternuts-and-bluecoats.com/bandbcatalog-shoesandboots.html.

Scroll down to Item # Shoe 2-B...Knee-Flap Cavalry/Artillery Boots.

These look like the same boots that Fall Creek stock and I like the look of these.

Thanks for your help. Being new to this period I am still working out what is what.

I have a great pair of those from Missouri Boot and Shoe Company that Jerry mentioned above.  They are wonderful Civil War Boots.   ;)

They are nice, but I am in Australia and we use the South Pacific Peso, otherwise known as the Australian dollar,  as currency  ;D

Ive got the Civil War officer boots and they are great had them for 5 years so far.  The only thing is need heel plates they slip easily on wet grass.

seems there is a plethora of sources for Cav boots these days , not so in the mid- 1970s
Dale (C&D) Jarnagin gave it a try..his brogans were successful , boots though, I think he found to time consuming and costly to make on as large a scale.
I got a pair of his officers high tops and they served me quite well..though two re-heelings and to numerous wettings, I used them up in many years in mounted CW eventing.
Around 1990, I had Andy, at Fall Creek measure my feet personally on the set of "Glory ". I received the boots about 2 months later these boots have served me to this day
18 years and they are still in great shape...
Granted they are only used on weekends by an old man, but what weekends an so many ! Mounted use CW eventing, Western action shooting,
Several screen rolls ...and by gosh they still have to original heels ,soles... I can not give a higher testimonial to Andy Falks's Fall Creek product.
except the price ... its still the same I paid in 1990 ! now that's something.

when planets align...do the deal !

I would have to say try "Fall Creek"  boots are made to your size and measurements!  Great Boots!! had a pair made for CW Cav events.
