Seems that USFA should at least have those guns listed on their website as available to be ordered considering their orginal statements that they would be out in June.

Don, the '75 Remington seems to be a topic that no one at USFA is responding to here.  Hmmmmmmmm.  ???

Deadeye Don

Kid,  I noticed that.  Doesnt keep me from trying though.   ;D

I am starting to think that the USFA Remingtons might be akin to finding the Holy Grail.  Unlikely to impossible.

I believe that Remington will also be marketing them as it is "their" gun.
Personally, I like the idea that they will be marked as Remington only.

I had occasion to speak to USFA last week when ordering some spare springs for my Lightning Rifle.  I asked about the availability of the Remingtons, and was told they weren't sure if the project would go forward.  The person I spoke to indicated that the Remingtons were more complicated and labor intensive - thus extremely expensive to produce.  He said there were a couple of frames around the shop, but no complete guns.  Recognize that this was one persons comments, and I don't know if they present an accurate picture.

Not surprising considering the paucity of information coming from USFA and Remington.  Fortunately, I have found other guns to spend my money on.

References to the guns have all but disappeared from the Remington web site.  You used to be able to find them listed under "licensed products / revolvers."  That link has been removed from the site.  You can still find a small photograph, accompanied by almost no information, if you use their search feature and type in "1858."

Not a good sign at all.   I just wish USFA would come clean and let us all know whether the project is still going to go forward or if it has been scraped.

And while we're at it...  Are the Omni-Potents ever going to become available???

Probably about the same time the Lightning rifle becomes available in .32-20.

I'll say this, USFA has IMO done itself and its POTENTIAL customers a disservice by not having someone come on here & post GERMAINE & PERTINENT info regarding this project. This is starting to look like another "Bren Ten" fiasco. In the end, silence speaks volumes in that I guess they have all the money they need and don't need mine.

Have you ever wanted something that you knew was going to put a crunch on finances, but you were determined anyway.  Then from a delay that was not of your doing, you got that breathing room you needed.  Now you can do something else in the meantime, which by the way the other half of the family administration which includes the family CEO & COO, your wife, wants you to do!  Like going to the In-laws for Thanksgiving, and shopping for Christmas.  That is how I am looking at this delay.  Breathing room!  I am still hoping, but I am sure not going to hold my breath.  I am keeping things flowing while maintaining happiness at home.  If I push too hard, she may push hard to retire, then there goes that extra jing for USFA Firearms.  So, Breathe a while.

In theory I'd agree with you...(and of course that's what all the disciples here would like)

BUT if you look at it from USFA's perspective, it might NOT be their call.

As we've seen (or as I've seen from reading the thread on here) it looks like this is really now a Remington driven project.  They're (thinking about) contracting USFA to build these revolvers FOR Remington to sell.

And didn't I read somewhere that Remington was recently bought out by a larger parent company?  (And maybe some of "those plans" are now not the "current plans" ???)

So, from Remington's viewpoint it might be nice to know that some here are big fans of this revolver, but how well will it be received by a larger audience?

They're going to look at various cost per piece vs. order numbers.  How much they contract with USFA for how many pieces at what price.

Then, didn't we read that it was looking like the cost of making that revolver was coming in at a higher price than originally projected?

Then, let's look at the ecconomy in general, where's it going?  (Right now it's not looking too promising)

Anyway I think there's a strong possibility that it's just not USFA's call to say whether they're going to be making these or not.

Maybe it started out that way...when they announced their intentions.  Maybe Remington got hold of them after that announcement and said, "We'll work with you on this and WE want to be the ones who are going to handle/sell these".

I'm thinking the (few) people who might know more about whether this is a "go" or "no go" still aren't even sure?

Grogan, they only need Remington's approval to stamp "Remington" on the gun as everyone knows it's not a "real" Remington being made by USFA. Technically, USFA could proceed w/o the stamp just as Uberti & USFA build SAA clones.  Most people could not care less about the stamp IMO as they just want a '75 w/o the stupid Uberti type cylinder release.  Cerberus owns Remington and they are a large holding co. who owns Marlin, Bushmaster, DPMS, etc. I'd wager that Remington has no part in the manufacturing end of it. Remington for that matter does not even make their RB actions for their #1 Sporters available through their custom shop. It's a farmed out casting.
