I use Goex Pinnacle, which is made by the same company and has graphite added.

I like pretty well.

Thanks guys I preffer the APP cause of avaliability.  I go by the Farm Fleet atleast 2 or 3 times a week.  They carry APP.  To get the real thing I would have to mail order it or drive a hundred miles.  Either way makes the real thing rather expensive now a days.  But I appreciate your imput.

Thanks y'all

Howdy

APP recommends on their web sight to fill the case with just enough powder that the bullet touches the top of the powder when it is seated. They recommend no more than 1/16" of compression.

Here is a link to their loading page:

http://www.americanpioneerpowder.com/loading.html

Please note: although they say 21 grains of FFFg for a 200 grain bullet, that is dependent on how deep the bullet sets inside the case when it is fully seated and crimped. The best course to determine that is no different than with real Black Powder. Measure the amount the bullet sits in the case, fill the case with that much powder, plus maybe 1/16", then dump the powder out and weigh it. Then either weigh out your charges, or come up with a dipper that dips out that amount.

P.S. You con't have to use bullets with special lube for APP, you can use any bullets lubed with regular Smokeless lube.
That's bad business! How long do you think I'd stay in operation if it cost me money every time I pulled a job? If he'd pay me that much to stop robbing him, I'd stop robbing him.

Ya probably inherited every penny ya got!

See my above posts.  One of the calibers I use Pinnacle in is 44-40.  Pinnacle is the same as APP except it has graphite, or so I have been told.

When I first got my 44-40 1873 carbine, I loaded APP so I could use cheap hardcast bullets with hard lube.  They worked fine.  After I obtained some black dawge BP bullets I switched to BP for that caliber.  Pretty much any of the BP subs should work fine with generic smokeless bullets (except Pyrodex which needs soft lube).

I've used APP for years as far back when it was Cleanshot.  I still have some in cans marked Cleanshot.
I use for my shotgun...

I used to use it in my 44/40 Henry ( but sold the Henry "IDIOT" !)

APP was Cleanshot APP, changed its name over some Hissy-fit brought on by Pyrodex

I use app in my 44/40 , I put in 21 grains and a wad on top then the bullet. I like it for the black class and you don't need a bullet with extra deep grease grooves for fouling. I like to shoot it my original 73, which has some pitting and you can never get it perfectly clean, but with the APP there isn't as nasty residue left left in the pits as real black
