How about circulating your sources in Canada?

I've been looking for an octagon BPCR barrel source.  Green Mountain now seems to have what is needed.  I emailed them and they said I couldn't purchase direct from Canada.  Instead they gave me two contacts;
1.  Mike Magee   306 672 3556
2.  Bits of Pieces  604 946 6168

I called Barry @ bits of pieces, and now we have an order in for a #3.5 octagon barrel in .45-70 for my Argie roller.  He is in Delta BC.  Has anyone dealt with him?

I received an order of Ballistic Products stuff from Wil Bilozir in Alberta.  I`ll be dealing with him again.

Ok Sir Charles,

I've had great dealings with Wayne Wesser of Old Western Arms in Winnipeg.

http://www.oldwesternarms.ca/

And I bought a number of firearms from Shooter's Choice in Ontario - Again good service

http://www.shooterschoice.com/catalogue_front.htm

Gary Howe's Gunsmithing also works out of Shooter's Choice and he has given me excellent service.

And I've purchased several itiems from Doc Rowland at http://www.oldwestguns.ca/products/index.php ranging from firearms to leather goods, grips, springs and brass.  He has been great to deal with.

I can vouch for some of the afore-mentioned vendors. Mr. Wayne Wesser in Winnipeg is great to deal with, especially when I was looking for a second Beretta Stampede in 44-40. I have dealt with Mike Magee as well. He specializes in Remington Rolling Blocks, and my 50-90 has a Green Mountain Barrel on it. He would be worth calling, as I believe he had a couple barrels for sale at the last gun show in Edmonton.

A while back, I was asked about gunsmiths in Canada prepared to work on Single Actions for frontier action shooting.  Then I drew a blank.  Most gunsmiths in Canada have enough work dealing with local hunters, and clay target shooters.  There are exceptions, but mostly working on IPSC guns, & such.

I knew that M.D. Charlton, worked on S&W firearms, and in fact he is Canada's warantee station for S&W.  I had a 1937 Brazilian contract long actioned .45 acp revolver worked on by Murray.  He did a good job, after locating parts that haven't been made for half a Century.

I spoke to Murray today.  He is prepared to work on cowboy revolvers. He already receives guns from all across Canada for work.

He told me Colts & clones of Colts are no problem.  Some Ruger parts, like free-spin pawls, are hard to get, but he is willing to discuss any Pards needs.

Give him a call at  250-652-5266,  Ask for Murray

Here's the Canadian dealer in STARLINE brass.  I note they also sell .45 Cowboy Special brass.  (A good source of .455 Mk I cases by thinning the rims.)

I really miss VTI Gunparts!  Too bad that US export regs have shut them off from their loyal customers. >:(

However all is not lost. :)

I stupidly mislaid a wedge from my UBERTI 1851 R-M.  A call to STOEGER CANADA, 905-436-9077, eventually got me to their parts desk.  I had a long chat with Peter, the parts manager.  They are stocking parts for Uberti revolvers as need arises.  They had the wedge for the '51 Navy which shows as a common part for the Open Tops and conversion revolvers so one is on its way.

Peter said that there has been more demand for Uberti parts recently.  I think that they didn't account for the Cap'nballers, OTs and R-Ms that came in to Canada before Stoeger Canada wrested control of the Uberti supply situation from dealers who were dealing with Uberti directly. They are becoming aware of how common they are (relatively speaking!) so I conclude that the parts supply situation should remain reliable.  I'm still not clear on the new firearm supply of Uberti products.  We still seem to be subject to the US demand creaming product off the top and leaving us with the scant remainder.

I believe that Wayne Wesser suffered a heart attack/stroke and is no longer in business. I spoke to him last year and he didn't sound well.
He referred me to Doc Rowland who is establishing a good rep in the trade.

Another source for Canucks is Del Strazza's 'Country Classics'. email: countryclassics08@xplornet.ca    www.countryclassics08.com
Del is in Wild Rose Country as you can tell from his (403) 393-2359 ph.#.

In the last issue of Canadian Access To Firearms, editor Paul Rogan is offering 'smiths a deal that cannot be refused. He wants 'smiths to list FREE in CATF and he'll list them as to category and work done.

I have a pair of USFAs on order from Del . He is listed as the only Canadian Distributor for USFA  .
Have any of you had experience dealing with Del at Country Classics? I have been waiting since late spring but understand USFA is really slow to fill orders .
I am in no great rush to get the new guns but the suspense is hard to take ;D

Thanks

I've shot with him on Posse's at Ft Kusk & Rocky Mountain House. I have also dealt with him as a dealer, as have friends, none of us would go near him again. Just my humble opinion.

Does Del = Del Selins?

Sir Charles, did you have any luck getting your parts thru Stoeger Canada? I heard that some waited for years, gave up and obtained them thru the dealers very quickly.

All I needed was a wedge for an 1851 conversion.  I talked directly to the parts guy, and it came reasonably quickly.  I suspect that if the part was not in Canada already it might be a different story.  905-436-9077,  I also scored the dealer contact number 1-800-786-2287.

Does anyone know where I could get just a Pietta bolt for a NMA?  The new cylinders have wider notches! Marstar have the parts kit, but I just need the bolt

ARMCO in Prince George is now doing CAS work. Check the web site or call: 250 962-9713

We had several shooters from PG at our clinic last Saturday. They told us that Gunnar had hoped to come with them, but couldn't make it. He'd like to see CAS get going there as it will expand his market.

Another good source for guns is Prophet River in Lloydminster, Alberta. - Call Clay at: 780 872-2865

I just bought an EMF SASS Winchester 73 from Rusty Woods Trading Company, with a bunch of bells and whistles to be done on it,  it took an extra 2 months to get it to me but it was worth the wait. I finally got it zeroed and shot it in a match last weekend. It performed flawlessly. Highly recommended.
