Howdy,
Anybody using this sight on their Henry? I'm getting a little frustrated with the stock Uberti sights (don't see as well as I used to) and I'm unsure if the Buckhorn or or the Tang would be the better option. I use the Rifle mostly for CAS but I also Hunt with it every once in a while.

Thanks,
Rick

I have used both the Marbles and the Lyman tang sights on CAS rifles.  The problems I found were due to the type of shooting we do.  Some of the problems I had were: forgetting to raise the sight before staging.  Hitting the sight against a prop.  Having the sight fold down when the stage calls for the rifle to be staged in a saddle scabbard.   :-[  Murphy's Law comes into play.

I finally went to a full Buckhorn.  I use it like a ghost ring and for me it is very fast.  I just put the front sight on the target and pull the trigger.

The one I have on my Henry and 66 is http://www.trackofthewolf.com/(S(e3cua1551h4y0xfir0ss0q45))/categories/partDetail.aspx?catId=14&subId=167&styleId=764&partNum=RS-PM-1

I like the Marble's tang sight better than the Lyman. The Marble's has both an elevation and windage adjustment. It comes with 3 eye pieces. You can also buy different sight posts for height from Buffalo Arms that will work on the standard sight. The posts cost about $7 each.
The "improved" Marble's tang sight cost more but you have an almost unlimited amount of height adjustment if you are willing to purchase the stems. They ain't cheap. I'm a cheapo so I went the standard route and purchased the extra tall post from Buffalo Arms. If money isn't an issue I would go with the "improve" version.

Will, Thanks for the info on the tang sights. I've had the same trouble too and I've tried the Lyman and another that I can't recall the name of. I went back to the original sight but reading your info on the Track of the Wolf sight I think I'll order one. It looks like just the kind I'm after.

I don't own a Henry.  (Dang it)  My '66 Imp. Henry is stock, but my '92 has a Marbles tang sight.  Keeping in mind what has already been mentioned, it's a GREAT sight, and worth the extra $$s over the Lyman - which isn't bad in it's OWN right.

One thing to consider:  if used on a Henry or a '66, I THINK you have to have a new front hole drilled on the tang, but Will K. or others will know for sure - I don't.

Theses 'Full Buckhorn' sights you mention, will they fit on a 1873 Winchester?

Dr. Bob

If you use the tang sight, you just have to add CHECK THE SIGHT to your check list of things to do as you bring the rifle up to your shoulder.  A small check list for shooting a shot in your head will help to eliminate most shooter errors, at least for me.  The one that I have trouble with is trigger control when I try to shoot faster.

I believe it will.  I put them on my Henry and my 66.  On my 73 I put a marbles full buckhorn.
